Very happy with Rubik customer service
Received the Rubik 200A AC/DC welder. Product arrived with some dents and faulty torch. Contacted Rubik and was very happy with thier customer support. Fast responses to my emails and are in the process of shipping items needed to correct the problem. I Will update again when part arrives. As of now, I'm completely satisfied with how they are handling the issue.

welder that doesn’t work
When i got the welder it the tig would not work . I called amazon they told me that they would get ups to pick it up and they would bring a shipping label but they never came . It says on box not to send it back to amazon . to contact the company i did but never got a response. so i am stuck with an almost 600 dollar welder that won’t work.😡

Seems to be a super company
I have not had time to start to learn how to tig weld on this unit yet. That being said, I complained to the company about their instruction book and lack of instructional video for proper set up and operation. They quickly got back to me and ststed they would work on the instructions issues. They also thanked me for my feedback and made up for it in other ways. Thank you Rubic direct.

Versatile and compact AC/DC welder, (updated)
I have been using this machine for some time now and wanted to update the review. The machine has really worked well, again if one is not familiar with how to properly set up and use a pulse welder for maximum benefit, some type of technical explanations should be included with the machine. It is a bit of a trick balancing all the variables, but when properly dialed in you will be amazed at how consistent your welds can be. A foot pedal is really not necessary. So a bit down the road here with the Rubik machine, and still pleased with it.This is a nice compact TIG/ stick welder that offers DC current and AC square wave. The machine offers pulse function in both AC and DC TIG, and square wave balance in AC for optimum cleaning. The AC frequency is adjustable to 200HZ even though one rarely needs more than 100HZ.. There is no need to ball or blunt the tungsten for AC with a square wave inverter when using the newer types of tungstens, (although pure and thoriated tungstens do still require that proceedure) , and any type tungsten can be used. If you have never used a square wave inverter for alloy, you will be amazed at how much easier it is to get quality welds. The machine handled the common stick electrodes just fine, and TIG performance was on par with larger inverter machines that I own. There is provision for a 5 pin foot pedal, but none is currently available, the manufacturer was obliging in supplying the wiring and resistance specifications for the pedal, which allowed me to adapt a pedal that I had on hand. I think until the foot pedal is available, the machine should be supplied with a spare 5 pin plug so that adapting a foot pedal will be easier, as I removed the 5 pin plug from the tig torch to use for the foot pedal, since only 2 of the contacts are used in that situation. I then wired the foot pedal microswitch to pins 1 and 2, and the center lead from the footpedal potentiometer to pin 5. The other two potentiometer leads were connected to pins 3 and 4. You will know you have it correct when on connecting the footpedal, the green indicator for "remote" illuminates and the amps display reads 5, if it reads 200, you need to swap the connections to pins 3 and 4. The potentiometer needs to be 100K ohms. The TIG torch is of a comfortable European design, but I would prefer the hoses have a nylon or kevlar cover as opposed to the heavy rubber covering provided. I did replace it with material that I had on hand and it is a substantial improvement. I attached a standard 2 pin plug to the torch in place of the original 5 pin plug, and installed a corresponding 2 pin socket on the machine bezel, this allows me to use any torch I have that has a trigger on the handle and 2 pin plug, and to use non trigger equipped torches utilizing a simple on/ off foot pedal with a 2 pin connector termination. The machine is supplied with a gauge type regulator as opposed to a flowgauge as many might prefer. Additionally while decently packed, I think many suppliers underestimate how rough most package services treat items. Mine had the regulator dislodged from the cushion foam and the regulator then proceeded to put a substantial dent in the machine cover. Fortunately nothing was damaged internally, and I was able to do a decent job of flattening the dent so it was hardly noticeable. Had this been a purchase as opposed to a technical evaluation, I would have had to return the item or requested a price adjustment. I was told early in my logistics career to package any item so that it could survive a 3-5 foot fall onto concrete floor, as conveyors regularly are at that height. Both the stinger and ground lead could be a bit longer in my opinion.A very good feature is the use of industry standard gas connectors on the torch and on the front and rear of the machine. this allows easy hassle free use of other torches with separate gas and electrical connectors that one might have, as well as standard gas hoses and regulators. Many imported welders use combined gas/ electrical torch connections and barbed male connectors for the gas entry; while fine if you just have the one machine and torch, it is difficult to properly adapt other torches, and inconvenient to have the gas hose connected by a hose clamp connection, so good marks for that choice by the manufacturer. The manual is definitely lacking, there is nothing covering the theory and set-up of the pulse function, something many beginners could use and would appreciate, likewise there is no explanation of the adjustment of AC frequency and balance. The actual functions of any of the controls are not covered in any way, so not much point in a manual! A well written page or two would aid in getting up to speed with the machine and be appreciated by even experienced users. I still do not understand why these manufacturers put so little importance on generating clear and illustrated manuals for equipment in English, since the USA consumer market is obviously one of the big targets. .The "instructional video" mentioned in the literature is worthless, it is only a promotional clip of a fellow carrying the machine to rock music!.Of course the real test other than out of the box performance is longevity. I hope I will be using this machine years from now, and should I need service or support, find that the manufacturer is available to assist me.I think for the price point this is a decent machine offering full AC and DC TIG functions in a very compact and reasonably priced package. It is a very good choice based on my hands on "today" evaluation.Other than receiving the machine "gratis" for evaluation, I have no connection with the manufacturer or marketer, and have received no monetary compensation for my evaluation or review.

A fully featured tig welder for a hobbyist
First off, I am not a professional, and I would guess if you're looking at this welder, you probably are not either. If you're like me, you want an affordable machine that can do tig welding of steel and aluminum that will not break the bank. I am new to tig welding, and this is my first tig welder, but I can say that it's been fine so far for learning. I use this primarily for sheet metal body work and eventually will branch into welding stainless and aluminum. I've welded with a mig flux cored welder for the better part of 30 years around the farm and shop, so I know the basics of electric welding, and have done some reading on tig welders before going for this one. One thing that is good about this machine is the AC/DC part. For aluminum at least, you will want that AC process, and DC for almost everything else. Also, the AC frequency is adjustable, so you're not limited to the house current's frequency. This is a pretty versatile machine, and easy to operate. You can use the tig process or stick welding, AC or DC, pulse or constant voltage, and finally you can switch between 2t and 4t control of the arc (press the trigger and release to stop the arc, or press once to start the arc and keep going until you press again). There are a ton of other settings you can mess with too, but I'm a relative novice and haven't messed with most of them. I can say with my limited experience with tig, that this welder will probably do everything I will ever need for my use cases. If you have a mig already, adding this to your shop will let you weld just about any process and material you are likely to come across. The only thing I will say is that this welder ships with a completely useless welding mask. It's literally a flat piece of plastic that you bend and snap into shape, and the welding glass is held in place by two weak plastic fingers. If this is your first welder, toss that thing, don't even think about using it, and get yourself a proper welding helmet. So far, for the price and for my needs as a hobbyist, I am happy with this welding rig. It's a perfect complement to my mig welder and greatly expands what kinds of jobs I can tackle.

Easy to Use
This ACDC welder has an oversized LCD display, while each digit is accurately displayed and easy to operate for a novice like me. As for the other features I need to explore them slowly later. in all, this is a perfect welder.
