What external antenna connection is used on the radio? sma, bnc ect....

The PL-330 antenna jack accepts a 1/8" or 3.5mm male mono phono plug. When I purchased my PL-330, I also ordered an XHDATA AN-80 (search Amazon for this) spool antenna that's approximately 23 feet long. It fits in your pocket. The AN-80 has a spring clip on the case that you could clip to a curtain or something up high within a room. The end of the antenna wire has a 1/8" male plug. It also comes with a short adapter cable that accepts the male connector on one end and a clip on the other end that snaps onto the PL-330 antenna. If you're handy with a soldering iron, you could easily make your own wire antenna. The radio itself is superb!

How do you use the Synchronous Detection function of this radio?

Tune the station of interest, then long-press the SSB [SYNC] button to enter synchronous mode. You may hear the station more clearly through the reduction of adjacent channel interference. When in Sync mode, two extra fractional frequency digits are displayed and pressing the Step button switches the tuning step to 10 Hz. It just gives you some options that might help.
