I replaced a HDMI extender that failed, I was only using the IR portion of the old device. this worked perfectly I just plugged into both end of my Cat5/6 cable and connected the USB. I like that the IR receiver has a green light when powered and lights up red when it gets an IR signal. I really like all the sticky tape on the devices, it makes it really easy and quick to place the unit. the USB was easy to find a port to power the device. would buy it again.

Often times you need to find an IR repeater so that you AV set up works as intended. For me, after moving everything into a dedicated closet, some devices depend upon IR to control them. There are a lot of solutions out there and this one, a "no frills" hard wired works seamlessly. Of course, you have to spend time and run a separate ethernet line dedicated for the device itself but in the long run, there is no delays, no wireless transmission hiccups and the response is as if the AV device is in the same room. This was perfect for my setup and am glad I stumbled upon it during my hunt for an IR repeater.

Works Fine

I have been trying to extend an IR signal 50 feet to control an HDMI switch for months. I have tried two different RF based IR repeaters. They only worked about 1 out of 10 attempts to control the switch. This approach works 100% of the time. The only down side is that you need an CAT 5 cable between the transmitter and the device you want to control.
