Quicksand: Henning Mankell

Mankell has revealed himself in this revelatory book,as a man of great sensitivity and humility. I feel privileged to have been given these glimpses into his life, which has been lived to the full. He is a man with far distant horizons. This book, so different from the Wallander series I've been hooked onto, shows the author so clearly.

This is a strange mix of reflections, memories and emotion as the author comes to terms with his illness and reflects on the moments in his life that impacted on world view. Very, positive and life affirming, I think it will appeal to all people interested in human nature

Amazing,insightful,humbling and so deeply moving. Mankell speaks to you as if he is your friend. This book resonates long after you've thought you'd finished reading.

Loved the Wallander books but this is Mankell reflecting on life through the prism of his cancer diagnosis, the book flits around many issues and I couldn’t keep my concentration sadly so not a success for me.

This book looks back over the author's life and at the same time looks into the future of mankind. The knowledge that he died very soon after finishing the book makes it especially poignant. This book is a fitting memorial to a great writer and thinking human being.

I have very much enjoyed Henning Mankell's books and have about 15 of them so I know I will enjoy his last one. With thanks.

In diesem Buch lernt man den Menschen Mankell noch einmal richtig kennen! Man kann die Kapitel einzeln lesen, da sie eher eine lose Aneinanderreihung seiner Sicht auf sie Welt darstellen.
