Two Sisters: A gripping psychological thriller with a twist

Life isn't always a beach
I’ve been meaning to pick up a Kerry Wilkinson novel for a while now as I’d heard some very good things about the Jessica Daniels stories, but other books seemed to have jumped in front of them instead. So when I heard he was branching out and writing a psychological thriller style novel, my interest was piqued.Megan is an unusual character – she’s got a number of issues, starting with her relationship with food. Personally I’d call it unhealthy but then again people might suggest my relationship with food is unhealthy. It’s not explicit from the story but I did wonder if this was triggered by her parents’ unexpected death. As for finding out what happened to her older brother all those years ago, she’s like a dog with a bone, interrogating anyone who shows a vague acknowledgement of his disappearance within this close knit seaside community. There is a definite build to the story; it starts at a relative sedate pace but as Megan asks more questions and tries desperately to dig up the past, it gathers pace.Kerry Wilkinson has a great writing style, I was there in Whitecliffe with Megan and Chloe enjoying the summer sun. I am kicking myself for not having read the author’s previous novels despite seeing they attracted great reviews. I am really looking forward to meeting Jessica Daniels and Andrew Hunter and to reading the next psychological thriller The Girl Who Came Back due out later this year. Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for my copy of Two Sisters. Kerry Wilkinson – you’ve got yourself a new fan!

Brilliant!
Another brilliant book from Kerry, very different from his other books but well worth a read. I think it focused a lot more on the two main characters of Megan and Chloe and let you know their intimate feelings which was great. To be honest Megan has some issues which I think personally could've been highlighted and investigated more in the book but still gave enough for anyone to understand and empathise with her. There's a lot going on in the book although only set in the small village of Whitecliff, a lot of interesting characters to get your teeth into. I never once thought I knew what was going to happen in the end but when I got to the end was totally surprised by the twists and turns. Would recommend this book to anyone and am so grateful to Kerry for sending me this book to review, can't wait for the next one.

What happened to Zac Smart
When Megan receives a postcard on morning of her parents funeral it turned her life upside down. The postcard contains one letter Z on the front is a picture of whitecliff where ten years earlier Megan 16 year old brother vanished. Was does this all mean? Was the postcard from Zac or from someone who knew what happened to him or is this someone's sick idea of a joke? Megan isn't sure but she wants to find out for ten years discussions about their brother were banned by their parents was this because it hurt to much or did they want to forget? Megan and her younger sister Chloe return to Whitecliff for the first time since Zac went missing but Megan questions are treated with hostility and denials from most of the village who insist that Zac just drowned. Why then in place where everyone knows everyone else's business does no one remember him? Is it simply that the villagers just want to forget and move on because they need the beach kids to keep coming there so that they can survive and raking up the past might jeopardise the village very survival or is there something more sinister going on? What really happened to Zac Smart? That is the burning question going on throughout the book a question Megan asks at every turn. Who sent the postcard and why? However most importantly why is someone leaving sinister messages telling the girls to go home, breaking Windows and attacking their friends Is there really someone watching Megan from the woods or is she imagining it? If someone wanted the girls to come to the cottage why haven't they revealed themselves? Brilliant read with lots of questions and a twist that I never saw coming is there really a conspiracy in the village or is Megan mental state even more fragile than even she realised and Zac just simply drowned like everyone thinks as a reader your never really sure what is real and what is imagined brilliant read

The author has written better novels
A stand alone novel by author Kerry Wilkinson.Sisters Megan and Chloe's parents are killed in a car accident and they inherit money and a cottage in Whitecliff, Cornwall. Ten years earlier they lost their brother Zac when he went missing among the cliffs, caves and beaches that surround the small seaside town of Whitecliff. On the day of their parents funeral Megan receives a postcard with a photograph of Whitecliff and 'from Z' written on the back. Could Z be their long lost brother, Zac? Is he still alive after all? This is a good read that I enjoyed but it was never going to be a classic. There is plenty of action, relationships and suspense to keep you gripped but the author has written better books.

Another great book
This was different from what Kerry has done before. I really enjoyed and had me intrigued to fine out more about their parents what brought them back to the cottage and what really happened to Zac. Again these are real people you can equate to with real issues. Not every family is perfect even when they have money. Really enjoyed. Just yes he had another book out for my holidays soon. Going to re-read some older ones. If you haven't read any of Kerry's books download now.

Enjoyed but very slow
Story really took a long time to get anywhere. I found it was going over old ground, two sisters in a village they used to visit in the holidays with their parents before their older brother disappeared. Just really went around in circles until the end which all felt a bit rushed. I agree with another reviewer in the fact that it would probably be more appropriate for the teen fiction section.
