Great performance, but it might not be what you're expecting...
Make sure you understand how this pump operates and look closely at the volume and performance specs. It is a very well-made pump and relatively lightweight and compact for what it does. It is NOT however a normal "rotary vane" type pump that spins and moves a stead stream of water. It operates more like a hand-crank well pump, where on each piston stroke it sucks up a charge of water and then discharges it. When operating, it is extremely quiet (especially compared to typical macerator type pumps that use rotary vane pumps). There is no whining or grinding noise - instead it is more of a "slurp-spit-slurp-spit-slurp-spit" glugglng sort of noise. I'm not able to hear it with the hatches closed and the engine running (whereas the Jabasco pump it replaced made a helluva racket). The unit performs well - I use it to empty a below-deck fishbox and it will drain it down to the last 1/4" or so (I have the intake tube mounted so that it is about 1/8" above the bottom). This pump seems to be more efficient, quieter, and have a lower power draw, but it takes a little bit longer to empty the fish box. (but I'm usually not in a hurry when doing that so its not an issue)

Replaced a macerator pump that kept clogging on the fishbox pump out. So far, so good!
Installed this as a fishbox evacuation pump. It's a slurp and spit pump and does the job well.Plus there's no need to maintain a pre-filter.Just recently learned about these pumps and am so far quite impressed.Replaced a macerator pump that kept clogging on the fishbox pump out. So far, so good!
