18cm in length ragged metal set square with distance angle markings
Senbaler’s 18cm square edge is great for marking out perpendicular lens from edges. It has a scale to 17cm to measure distances from corners; as well as angle marks if you need to get a 45-degree point from the corner (say.) It is compact at 18cm so you will still need something to act as a straight edge to draw out beyond its small size. The kit c=includes a carpenter pencil, and a mechanical style pencil with a pack of lead. It helped me cut the edge of my new desk nice and straight; and its tough metal design and embossed printing will keep it around for years of my use. Get the red one and it will be easier to find in your toolkit.

Good Budget Triangle For Carpentry
For general carpentry, this triangle is a useful tool, and it makes marking out quick and easy. It even comes with a basic propelling pencil. For ultimate precision or cabinet making I'd choose my Woodpeckers triangle every time, but if you're on a budget or not needing that level of accuracy, this tool will suffice. The shoulder is probably the most significant feature of the tool, and it allows you to quickly place it against the edge of your timber and draw a 90 or 45 degree line, for cutting. The images show someone using the holes as a drill guide, but the tool is made of aluminium and a drill bit is hardened steel, which will ruin your triangle. If I caught anyone doing that to my tools I'd make them buy me a new one, along with a pint of beer as an apology for being so outrageous!
