Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite 2.4m for 40-50 Inch TVs

Govee makes good stuff. It’s in the mid range price wise, but having cheaper backlights these make it worthwhile. Installation is not too hard but a bit fiddly for some. The instructions are very good but this isn’t just a stick it on scenario. There are a few steps to install and calibrate but the app is excellent and talks you through it all. Once calibrated and set up, you can just let it do its thing. The app is for minute settings which most won’t worry about. Govee apps are always excellent. The effect is just amazing to see. You really have to experience it. Some wonder if it’s off putting. It’s not, it just blends in to the TV screen. What isn’t mentioned is it doesn’t just copy the colour on the edge. It’s AI decides the best surround colours. A snow scene with some greenery, it’ll create a full crisp surround colour with a spot of green. A desert scene, it creates a full surround of orange and yellows. In other words, it makes the surround match the whole scene, not simply copy the edges. In some scenes? If it’s a forest with an orange sky, it will create extended edges of green and blend into the blue and orange of the sky. In less detailed scenes, it works it out and the results are beautiful. Again you have to see it. One tiny critique is for wall mounts the box will be behind the TV so for very flat, flush finishes you may need to think about it. You could have the box outside the TV frame, but you would need longer USB extensions. BUT as it connects to WiFi and has an app, you won’t need to touch the box after pairing and it can be hidden.

This lighting kit has been a major upgrade for my TV viewing experience and I would highly suggest investing in this as there isn’t anything like it. It’s great this kit works on all tv’s and most sizes and is very easy to install, the adhesive is strong and hasn’t failed yet, while my only complaint falls with the camera adhesive as that can be hard to line up and once you pull it off once it’s ruined so they should include a few replacements. The lighting quality is amazing and it looks sleek with only the camera standing out abit. You are able to control all of it through the app which connect over a 2.4ghz connection to your device and it has all the controls you need as well as in app support if you need any help so it has great connectivity. The colours are vibrant and you are able to tune them to your liking anyways and there isn’t much latency which you can notice so it’s all a pretty smooth viewing experience. It’s better if the background is a solid colour on your wall so that the colours can really bounce, and it should be close to the wall for the best experience.

Pretty good - I picked this up at a discounted price, just post-christmas after buying a new TV. I had the T2 version with 2 cameras on my previous TV (which was very good). The T3 lite is good, but not quite as good as the T2 in my view. Where the T2 had 2 cameras as opposed to the 1 fisheye on this one, it also had more LEDs (60 as opposed to 30 on this). As a result, the T2 had longer, nearly continuous LEDs all around the back of the tv with minor gaps between sections, on this, there are distinctive left,top, right bottom strips with larger gaps between them, so, not all of my (65" is lit). Also, the leds appear to be in "blocks" of colour, similar to the rgbic strip, rather than behaving independently as on the T2. I don't believe the fisheye camera is as accurate as the twin cameras on the t2, but it looks a little neater, I suppose I think that the above makes for a less accurate experience than the t2 but it still looks good, especially if you set it up as a hub and sync it with other Govee lights (I have the RGBIC+ strips). Connectivity was quite easy - once set up, the govee app spotted it and I was able to add it- alexa also spotted it, however my old T2 was set up as a hub/gateway in order to control other lights so I had to switch that back on to remove it so that I could set the T3 up to do the same thing. Control/config is done via the all encompassing Govee App and quite easy if you know what you're doing. Once added, you can use your voice assistant, and I believe that this one is also Matter compatible. In terms of physical installation onto the TV, each section is 3M self adhesive and it comes with extra clips to hold the corners in place. Even so, it's still starting to come unstuck on one of the corners, which is a little annoying. I have extra clips from another LED strip. so might employ one of those to see if it holds it. The camera perches/balances on top of the TV with a counterweight at the back (there is a sticky pad included, but didn't seem to want to stick to any part of the camera bracket. A wire from the camera then goes down the back of the TV to the control box (which needs to be powered with the bespoke power adaptor). The control box can also be stuck to the TV but mine just sits on the TV unit as the cable is just long enough. Given the price I paid, I'm happy, but I have learned since that there is a non-lite version of the V3 being released which will be better - and more expensive! I'd

Upgrades your viewing experience completely! Always been a bit skeptical with LED strips as my past experience with them hasn't been great - mainly due to the sticky tape no longer sticking. However, Govee use 3M sticky tape which has incredible adhesion with no risk of sliding off from the back of the TV. I love the vivid colours and brightness of the LED strip and it's very responsive (almost immediately) to what is shown on the screen. The setup/installation was a little fiddly but just make sure you take your time with it. Must say, at the price of £89.99, I'm extremely impressed with it as the quality represents something which would be worth way more than the price I paid. All in all, I absolutely love this product! The Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite is honestly the best thing we’ve bought this year. It completely transforms watching TV and makes everything feel more immersive, especially for movies and gaming. The colours are vibrant and the brightness is excellent, strong enough to really light up the wall without being harsh or distracting. The fish-eye correction works really well, and once it’s set up, the lights sync smoothly and accurately with what’s on screen. It fits our 65 inch TV perfectly and looks great behind the screen. Setup took a bit of time, but the app is easy to use and worth it. Overall, we’re absolutely delighted with this and would highly recommend it.

Bought this to complement a new HiSense TV we'd had to buy when our old Philips Ambilight TV broke down. Had seen reviews on YouTube and plenty of tech sites promoting/reviewing Govee products in a positive way. I enormously regret my purchase. This thing is flakier than a cereal factory. The install process is utterly broken. For a start the "quick start" guide lists steps in a different order to the manual and a different order again from the guide on the app. The installation process includes several details about just how precise you need to be when installing the light and the camera. So after taking all the necessary steps (including using a spirit level to check the camera angle) and after I'd stuck the packaged foam markers to the screen for calibration, I was disheartened to see that the calibration process is fully manual. The user is required to manually drag calibration markers to line up with the foam markers, but this is done through the worst interface I have ever seen, across a rubbish low-quality, grainy view top-down view of the TV. The calibration markers frequently placed themselves off the screen, meaning they could not be pulled back into place to line up. The app is inexplicably ~450mb. There is no reasonable explanation for this. It's fully double the size of the Hue app yet offers less than half the functionality. And yet it's required to be able to use these lights properly. It's slow, buggy and pretty hostile to users. The lights themselves are.... underwhelming for the price. They emit a pleasant enough light and can get bright but if you're expecting an adapting colour effect along the lines of what Ambilight offers then sadly this is not the product for you. When you actually find the "follow video" setting in the app, it seems that the best the lights can offer is to apply a general light tone behind the TV. Where Ambilight accurately (and quickly) uses light to "extend" the picture out behind your TV, these lights instead use the carefully-calibrated camera to.... make a rough and very slow estimate of whether the screen is mostly green/red/blue etc. I've tried as many different settings as I can, I've messed with the colour contrast and brightness settings, I've enabled "game" mode in the hope that performance would improve. Nothing helped. To top it all off, unlike any other cheap RGB light strip, these won't even power via the TV USB. You have to have a dedicated 240v plug socket for them. This means that the lights won't even power up with the TV. You have to either reach behind the set to find the button on the control box or you have to fire up the awful app. I will say that the 3M sticky material used is far better quality than I've seen on cheaper lights. But sadly this also means that I can't claim a refund because the lights have now fully bonded to the plastic on the back of the TV and I can't remove them. Absolutely not fit for purpose, avoid at all costs. I'd have been better-placed buying a cheap set of basic RGB lights from B&M

Probably good quality but if you putting in corner of room not worth it, and mounted on stand cuts off effect, glow is not consistent. More suited to wall mounted tvs which if i had thought about it would not have bought!

What amazing TV RGB lights, they do the job incredibly well. I have honestly become a huge fan of Govee products and recently ordered their RGBIC Floor Lamp as well. These lights are absolutely superb for enhancing the atmosphere in your living room, bedroom, or TV setup.

L’adhésif 3M tient vraiment bien, même sur le plastique texturé de mon écran. ​Le calibrage : Une fois la caméra posée sur le dessus (très stable), l’application Govee Home vous guide pas à pas. On place les petits carrés en mousse orange sur les coins de l'écran, on aligne les points sur l'appli, et c'est fini en moins de 10 minutes ! ​Plug & Play : La reconnaissance Wi-Fi et l'appairage se sont faits instantanément. ​Côté rendu, c’est une claque visuelle. Les couleurs sont vives, la réactivité est excellente et cela agrandit littéralement l'image sur le mur. Cela réduit aussi énormément la fatigue oculaire lors des sessions cinéma dans le noir.
