I love this Churchwarden pipe. I had actually bought mine quite a while ago with the Tree of Gondor engraved on it. The bowl tends to burn pretty hot. It would be easy to burn right through if you’re not careful. It can even start to sweat, and some of the stain may come off on your hand. I’ve tried to build up a decent cake on the inside to help remedy it, but it can still burn pretty hot. I think it may be best as more of a prop for cosplay, or even just a collector’s item. It’d be a shame to burn up such a wonderful pipe, so I tend to smoke my other pipe more often than this Churchwarden. That being said, I still can’t bring myself to give it anything less than 5 stars, because it IS still a wonderful pipe! Again, mine was bought quite a long while ago, so maybe since then this has been fixed with these newer ones.

The draw could be better, I have concerns with the durability of the finish and the bowl does get a little warm. At it's price point it is decent. Perhaps a good pipe to take out with you. I could handle losing this a lot better than my nicer pipes. I am a tinkerer so refinishing and improving the draw would just be a project for me.

I got this for my pirate costume. It fits the part and is very nice looking. If your smoking regular tobacco it doesn't get hot like the other reviews say. If your smoking " other " than im sure it's going to get hot. I really liked this

I've had a few churchwarden pipes in my time and I was a little worried about buying one that seemed like a gimmick with the "Gandalf" "Lord of the Rings" names in the title. That said, I really like Gandalf and Lord of the Rings! And, having a pipe with the Tree of Gondor on it seemed like an awesome idea, so I went for it. I couldn't be happier with my decision. I have some pre-smoked tobacco that I've tried in three different pipes and this one smokes it the smoothest by far.I will say, the wood seems a little light and the craftsmanship definitely has a manufactured, not made with love feel about it. But, I can't argue with the results of the smoke.

I loved this pipe for about two ounces of tobacco. The feel, the style, smoked great, everything. Then after about two ounces the finish, that's right finish not oil, started coming off on my hand. Really hard to get off my skin. Then a hole started to burn through the front. I've been smoking about 35 years and have many pipes and never had anything like this happen. I love the churchwarden and wish I had tried them sooner, just not this pipe.

Great little pipe to replace my 12 year old church warden. Old pipe was kinda cheap and my 1st semi-real starter pipe so it got beat up & broke after I mistakenly tapped it out too hot. This new pipe is a solid but inexpensive replacement to learn on or for daily knock around use. Decent construction, fit, and has what you’d expect from a legit pipe. Just remember to let it cool before cleaning or “handling”.

First the reason I gave 3 stars is to be completely fair to the seller/manufacturer. I can't complain too much because the price is pretty fair.The etching appears to be laser engraved and looks very clean. As a craftsman and a pipe smoker I am rather disappointed in the material. The finish looks like wax (normal) and slightly melted off the top of the bowl when I put a flame to the chamber. The bowl and shank isn't as dense as most of my other pipes which is a little disappointing.I just can't get over the fact that the stem smells and tastes like burning plastic. I have yet to smoke it and I am a little afraid to inhale plastic fumes.
