It has many typos in the hardcover version and the online version does not function properly (charts stretched, formulas missing, etc.).

Update 12/30/18 It seems that the folks at Amazon have heard our reviews and changed the ebook to make the equations readable. I have not purchased the ebook, but Amazon has changed the online sample version to where the equations look just like the paper version. Presuming this is so, I've upgraded my rating from 1 to 4 stars. The scope of the book is overall very practical. However, a previous version had many fewer errors than this one. Most of the errors you can detect farily readily, but they generally stem from a major revision of the book where they broke up much of the chapters into smaller, more cohesive segments. This, of course, caused most of the equations, charts, etc. to be renamed. And while that change went pretty well, they didn't seem to update several references to the new equation numbers. That part deserves perhaps a 3, but I really like much of the material covered for heat and momentum transfer. The information is much more practical than several other transport textbooks. I hope those who purchased the original ebook version can upgrade for free. ******************************************************************************************************************* Original Posting: Before you purchase the eTextbook version, please look at the attached excerpt of Equation (4.1-15) taken from the sample at the top of this page. If it makes sense to you, you will LOVE this eTextbook. The hardback version is a good, readable text, but this eTextbook is filled with equations that are gibberish. If you don't believe me look at the preview yourself. Not all equations are bad, but whenever they have subscripts, exponents, differentials, integrals, summations, etc, the equations are not readable.

The 5th edition is utter garbage. Please, if you are a professor, do not force your students to use this book - it definitely will cause them to hate you (no matter how nice you are). It is riddled with gross errors and I have wasted my valuable time trying to work out problems that had typos in them. Fortunately, the 4th edition has the same material in it, just in a different order. So if you are still insisted upon to buy this book in spite of its awful reviews, just buy the 4th and transpose the sections accordingly. Again, I reiterate - USE THE 4TH EDITION FOR THE SAKE OF STUDENTS' SANITY EVERYWHERE!

I bought this brand new specifically because the last used book I bought was a disaster. This book came in extremely dented. I don't even understand how it was as squished in as it was.

Just the book we needed and in great shape

The actual text and problems are well written, the only issue is that in the rush to get another edition of this book out to squeeze every last dollar from helpless college students they clearly didn't manage to proofread it. Equations and example problems in this book have embarrassingly common errors that should be unacceptable for a textbook with a triple digit price tag.

I wish I could give this one star. I wasted $100 on the ebook for kindle thinking “oh I won’t have to carry around a heavy textbook and life will be good” but that was far from the case. I am 2 weeks into my semester and I can’t use this book and can no longer return it or get a refund. The equations in the book are a jumbled mess so you can tell subscripts from superscripts from fractions. Now since it’s a required text, I have to pay ANOTHER $75 to rent it for the semester. To say I’m mad is an understatement, I rarely review things on amazon and normally laugh at people that review textbooks (bc nobody ever likes them) but this is just exceptionally awful and has frustrated me to no end. DO NOT BUY THE EBOOK
