ONGUARDHeavy Chain Combination Lock

HUGE(and heavy) chain, comes with lock. If like me you've never used something like this before, allow me to de-confuse you. The link on one end of the chain is smaller and meant to be slipped THROUGH the link on the other end. The lock is then secured on the smaller link. Do NOT attempt to lock both end-links through the hasp... I can assure you the lock doesn't want to close :/For those wondering about the length, the advertised length was 5'5" but mine comes to 5'9" when stretched out and measured. Once again, YES it comes with a lock

This chain is huge. I put it through the frame of my ninja (past the triple tree and next to the fork near the front tire) and then chain it to a concrete post.I got the Kryptonite 999607 Evolution Series-4 Black 14mm Disc Lock and it seems to be the perfect size (and it's also an excellent lock with a small key for your keychain and it goes on and off real easy). I think this is the maximum lock size (14 mm) that will fit through the link (the chain is so thick that there's not much space for the lock to fit between the links), so if you have an 18 or a 16 it won't work (my fagettabout it Kryptonite lock that was 18mm for bike didn't work).Kryptonite has shrouded locks too, which you might think to get instead of the u-locks. Would be harder to get a bolt cutter in there. Or some other lock brand, I just see that Krypt gets good reviews

LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE OF KRYPTO, ABUS! JUST STRIP THE PHILIPES SCREW & SOLDER THE HEX NUTS AT THE BOTTOM NO ONE IS GONNA BOTHER WITH THIS LOCK & CHAIN! HARDENED STEEL AGAINST DRILLING PRETTY DAMN HARD TO PICK, & YOU CAN'T ANVIL SMASH THE LOCK FRAME. WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT WAS ONLY $44!! AMZON IS KILLING IT I HATE TO ADMIT THEY ARE TAKING OVER THE WORLD! BUY FROM YOUR LOCAL WHEN YOU CAN!

The chain is advertized as being 4 feet long, but it is 3.5 feet long. It is truly 42 inches long, but advertized as 48 inches long. Other than that, it looks very sturdy and has a very sturdy & attractive cover on the chain.******Update******Sent back the 4 foot (really 3.5 feet) & ordered the 5.5 foot chain with lock. This chain was really 5.5 feet long. Within 6 weeks I had trouble with the lock. There is a screw under the shackle that holds on the top metal section to the assemble. It fell off & was lost. I was sent a replacement lock from Onguard, got it within a week. Very good customer service!!! Onguard has BIG PROBLEMS WITH LOCK ASSEMBLE. The screw that fell out of my old lock was so loose on the new lock that I could tighten it by using a screwdriver and only holding the screwdriver metal shank (not the handle). There are two allen headed screws on the bottom of the lock that hold the bottom metal section to the assembly and they also came very, very loose. If you lose the top screw, it is 5mm with a thread pitch of .80mm also it is 14mm long (excluding the head).Tighten those three screws before you use the lock (using blue loctite would be a good idea) & it should be a very good lock & chain.

The good news. The Chain and Lock are hefty. I feel secure that no one is going to cut the lock without a lot of trouble.The bad news It takes a little bit of work(well a lot of work until you get the hang of it) to fit the 12mm chain into the 11 mm padlock so that it will lock. But, you can do it. It might even make it harder to cut the lock...The really bad news: when the package arrived it stated the insurance program was not available in New York! Wish I would have known that before I bought the lock! I probally would have bought the lock anyways,but,it would have been nice to know!

Feels great. Sturdy, heavy duty steel, great length. It took the NYPD Traffic officers quite a bit of effort to cut through my previous one. “My motorcycle was parked on the sidewalk. Lol”. The cover’s Velcro it’s a bit frustrating because it comes off very easily. Aside from that great product.

Very sturdy, heavy, and does the job. Just a little shorter than expectedUpdate: its now October 1st 2017 and this chain is still like new. Great purchase.

This is very good lock and quite flexible with its 7 feet of length. Having bought both the 14mm and 12mm varieties I can say that the 12mm hardened steel chain is both easier to work with and very nearly as safe.Although I have nothing bad to say about the chain, the company's warranty is completely useless. This chain MUST be used with an OnGuard Lock to qualify for warranty protection. Unfortunately your not covered if the chain is not left when the thief steals your bike, ANY POWER TOOLS are used to break the chain, you don't have a police report or it has not been submitted to them within I believe 72 hours. Further you have to pay a dollar to activate the warranty coverage and even if all the above conditions (and more I think) are met the coverage is only viable as a last resort. If your renters insurance or auto insurance cover it your loss it cannot be used.

The chain is made of 6 mm / 0.24 inch rod. AMAZON - THIS IS NOT THE FIRST REVIEW TO POINT OUT THE ERROR IN DESCRIPTION -- IT's ABOUT TIME YOU FIXED THE AD!The woven material doesn't cover the area where the chain meets the lock. This is important as pro thieves tend to use battery powered cutoff grinders. Where the chain is covered its harder to control the grinder - the grinding wheel may shatter.While only 4 digits, the lock seems to be good quality.

I refused delivery because the chain is not as thick as the listing implies. My friend recently discovered this problem, as have other reviewers. So I tried to cancel but that was too late, so I refused delivery. I went with a 4.5 star chain through Amazon that was half the cost and am quite satisfied with it.

Una excelente cadena, aunque la describen como modelo 8016, no es así, es la 8015 me parece, pero igual es muybuena y el candado igual. No dudaría en confiar mi bicicleta a esta cadena, el problema como con cualquier cadena es su peso. 3kgs aprox. para que lo contemplen al comprarla.

I ordered a 14mm chain and got a 6mm chain. Not heavy duty at all and for what I received the price that I paid was ridiculously high. Product sent back. I won't it order again.

Third time ordering a lock, third time the lock didn't match the description. Ordered an Ongaurd 8017, shipped a 8125.Wont be trying my luck again.
