I'm a mythology enthusiast, and this book has an exhaustive list of hundreds of creatures and monsters from all over the world and times that I have never heard of. Very impressive! Be aware there are no pictures; this is a list with bits of details and concise info about many creatures, both supernatural and otherwise. Theresa Bane's book is the way to go if you're looking for obscure creatures or to jumpstart your own imagination, and is a great addition for collections of those like me who love mythological animals.

This is another winner of a book from Theresa Bane, who's written many other reference books on topics from world folklore and myth (e.g., vampires, fairies, and so on). Her thorough research shines through on every page. A great addition to the library of anyone interested in myths and legends!

From this book, the author, Theresa Bane has a lot of knowledge on the subject of monsters. There are monsters that I had never heard of that I had found in this book. I like the format that the monsters are put in from A to Z and that you can find monsters from all over the world in this source.

I cracked open the book and thumbed to nowhere-specific in the middle. I read a passage on a term and I was sold.A GREAT reference piece to add to your collection. Well-written. Concise. Informative. NOT dry. And something I'll be referencing for my own needs and purposes for a long time! (Oh, and I found the introduction really funny..."This books IS NOT...")Excellent work, Theresa Bane!

I did not like that the book did not have pictures.

Great collections of creatures from myths and legends. The quality of research is high with a high number of resource materials and informative descriptions. A must buy for any one interested in the subject of mythological and legendary beasts.

The media could not be loaded. Contentwise it seems to be a good resource. Unfortunately all the pages are upside down.

Was expecting a hardback book for the price .Also considering it is a reference book illustrations would have been good and the print is so small
