Useful and Ornamental Guide for all Plant lovers
In Botany, the level of organisation at Family level is a core one. Yet recently familial groups have undergone a tidal wave of re-organisation as the work of the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group has swept through the science of Taxonomy. Accordingly, things can get a little confused for the ordinary plant lover and also for Botanists too. This book seeks to redress that confusion in an accessible way. It has enough of the key information at hand, which is accompanied by beautiful illustrations for both professionals and amateurs alike. Also, being a Kew book, you can be reassured that the science behind it is rigourous. The structure is quite simple with the families being listed alphabetically with both Latin and English names given. There are concise descriptions which do include scientific terms, but on the whole the information is provided in an easily digestible way. The illustrations as already indicated are beautiful and worth buying the book for alone.Invaluable.
