FUGO Thermostatic Mixing Valve, 1/2 NPT Solid Brass Temperature Control Valve

I used this on a hot water heater. It has only been a month or so but has worked fine. In CT it is required by code but it also allows you to run your water heater hot enough to kill resistant bacteria and effectively extends the capacity of smaller tanks.

The FUGO Thermostatic Mixing Valve is reasonably priced, appears well made (cast metal body, heavy duty plastic adjusting top), and to be of medium heavy duty. The valve, which is easy to install and adjust, has 1/2" MNPT inlets on either side for your hot and cold supply, and a 1/2" MNPT outlet on the bottom. The temperature demarcations are clear and easy to read. I ordered this to install in my bathroom as I remodel it. I live in an area with fairly high humidity and I have very cold well water; I plan to install this to provide warmed water to my toilet so as to reduce tank sweat. I would see this working well with older shower systems that lack scald protection provided you have easy access (I wouldn't leave this unaccessable.

I got this thermostatic valve to install in my outdoor shower which has now moved to the back burner until I get time to finish it. However, I wanted to test the valve now rather than wait until I finish the project. I connected a small electric point of use tankless water heater on the hot side of the valve and a garden hose on the cold side, with some spare plumbing parts I had on hand for the purpose of this test. After letting the water run for 2 minutes I tested the water temp using an instant read digital temperature gauge at 3 different temperatures, 95, 100 and 113 degrees. Bearing in mind, I could not calibrate the temp gauge, and this is just a basic test. At 95 and 113 degrees the reading was spot on with my temp gauge. With the valve set on 100 degrees my temp gauge read 101 degrees. For a non-scientific, clandestine setup the temperatures were remarkably close on all three samples and was able to replicate the same results on the second attempt. While I am a retired R&D lab tech, this test was not done in a laboratory under a controlled environment, still, the accuracy of this FUGO thermostatic mixing valve proved to be extremely accurate, which surprised the hell out of me.

This valve really works well, it allowed me to turn up my water heater without scalding everyone in the house, basically increasing our water heater capacity without having to get a new water heater. I just plumbed this in right after the water heater so all of the hot water in the house goes through it then I can turn the water heater up to 130 and set this to 114 or so and now we never run out of hot water and no one gets scalded. It was pretty easy to install, at least if you have pex running to your water heater, you just need 3 npt to pex adapters and a pex tee to splice it in. So far it has worked amazingly well, and it did not seem to effect water pressure too much. We will see how long it lasts, I have hard well water so scale and corrosion can be a problem, but at this price $28 even if it just lasts a year or 2 I will be happy with it.

This was exactly what I was looking for to install in our camper. The newer propane water heaters are non adjustable. The water was too hot and you had to constantly adjust the faucets. Installed this after the water heater now we have consistent water temperature and the hot water lasts longer. All with no power required.

When I try to turn it above 100 degrees the button won’t lock in place and it leaks. It was a lot of work to install it and I am very disappointed it doesn’t work properly.

Look at all the directions things can go! Threads are nice and even, with a beautiful gold color and a sweet little red detail at the top. How can you not smile while you install this?

Working perfectly. Use that valve to have the right temperature for our toilet. My local store was asking 90$ for equivalent valve.

Smooth operation and clear markings. Packaging includes washers. This valve was used for an external "wash down" port on our RV where the unregulated hot water temperature can exceed 200 degrees F. This mixing valve ensures that the wash down temperature can be pre-established as not to injure the user. Note: make sure that the valve is purged of water during winterization as freezing will cause it to split.

Could possibly be an exceptional product although does not come with a wall plate the direction behind the wall is in the wrong direction for my space
