Lp Aspire Wood Conga 12 In Natural

This drum is awesome. My wife and I dropped our jaws when we unpacked this instrument. It is nothing less than fantastic. Ready to play and the sound is phenomenal. I am starting to notice videos where they use Latin Percussion every where! High quality.

Good sound - easy to tune - good hardware - nice balance - great finish and construction - Could have been packed better in box (got marred by drum moving around in box)

Great sound and quality. I did have to order seperatly the rubber feet to get it up off the ground. Seems that should just be part of the order. Looks great in the house... nice decor too.

This is an excellent drum for the price point. A three-drum set for only $450 is a very good deal. Naturally, at this price point, they will not sound as good as an upscale set. The staves are fairly thick and chamfered on the inside, and sanded without any noticeable finish. Higher quality drums are nicely finished inside and often have a band of reinforcing fiberglass towards the top end. The Aspires have a nice bass end (requiring a floor mic to really pick it up) and their overall sound is not bad. If you want the perfect-sounding slap, they don't have as much of a slap as an expensive conga, but that's the trade-off. A good drum will cost at least $350. If you are serious about congas, you can start with an Aspire set, then sell them and move up to a $2,000 three-drum set when you're ready. (Gutarists will pay $3-$4K for a proper rig. There's no reason why a good conguero would not be willing to make a serious investment.) The higher end LP lines are also available on Amazon.
