They’re really well made and look very realistic, though not identical to real coins, which is ideal for using at home. I first bought them as part of our potty training reward system, and it worked so well! my child loved collecting the coins and trading them in for little treats. Now that we’ve moved past potty training, he uses them for role play, especially for playing shop, and they’ve held up perfectly through all his games. They haven’t worn out or faded, and the quality is excellent for the price. A great little find that’s been fun and useful in so many ways. Review: As described - useful for grandchildren learning about money ## Features - Warning:Toy inside. Adult supervision recommended - Realistic play money approved by the HM Treasury. - Pretend coins are almost actual size and feature the new 2017 design and updated tail artwork. - Perfect for building money recognition. - Improves equivalency skills through hands-on money maths activities. - Suitable for ages 3+. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B078WT6JS9 | | Best Sellers Rank | 23,160 in Toys & Games ( See Top 100 in Toys & Games ) 313 in Educational Science Kits | | Brand Name | Learning Resources | | Coin Variety 1 | Commemorative | | Colour | Multicoloured | | Country Of Origin | China | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 252 Reviews | | Denomination | 1 Pound | | Exterior Finish | Unfinished | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00765023511505 | | Grade Rating | Proof | | Grade rating | Proof | | Graded by | The Royal Mint | | Grading Provided By | The Royal Mint | | Included Components | Learning Resources 1 Pound UK Coins Set of 50 (New Version) | | Item Highlight | Use prop money to improve equivalency skills, toy money for hands-on reception maths activities and pretend play | | Item Type Name | Learning Resources 1 Pound UK Coins Set of 50 (New Version) | | Item Weight | 0.07 Kilograms | | Manufacturer | Learning Resources | | Material | Plastic | | Material Type | Plastic | | Metal | Silver | | Mint Mark | R | | Model Number | LSP11501L | | Model Year | 2017 | | Model year | 2017 | | Number of Items | 50 | | Part Number | LSP11501L | | Set | coins | | Set Name | Set of 50 | | Total Eaches | 50 | | Total Precious Metal Weight | 7.12 Grams | | UPC | 765023511505 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Variety | Commemorative | ## Product Details - **Colour:** Multicoloured - **Grade rating:** Proof - **Graded by:** The Royal Mint - **Material:** Plastic - **Variety:** Commemorative ## Images ![Learning Resources £1 Coins, Plastic Play Money for Kids, Ages 3+ - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81ABpUpMLcL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Are these the exact same size as real £1 coins?** A: Hi, No legally they cannot be the same size. Thanks Claire **Q: Are these hollow? If you wanted to carefully put something inside could you? How many grams of powder would one hold? Asking for a science experiment** A: This question sounds extremely dodgy! **Q: Are they a similar weight to real coins - I want to give them to someone in a care home** A: Our coins are lighter than real coins. They are also sized slightly different too. However we have had people comment previously that use them in care homes. **Q: Do they work in drink vending machines? ;)** A: No idea. I imagine the weight wouldn’t work though ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant for rewards and imaginative play *by N***A on 8 October 2025* These fake one-pound coins are absolutely brilliant. They arent the same size as a normal pound coin, i get why they can't but if anywhere or a machine accepts these as real ones is their own issue. I wanted to add them to a weight reward chart but they obviously don't fit. I have, however, been able to take them into work and the children now use them during counting games with me. ## Frequently Bought Together - Learning Resources £1 coin (Set of 50) - Learning Resources Two Pound Coins, Set of 50 - Learning Resources UK Money Toy Pack, Multicoloured, 20.1 x 15.5 x 1.3 cm --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.lk/products/64903694-learning-resources-1-coins-plastic-play-money-for-kids-ages](https://www.desertcart.lk/products/64903694-learning-resources-1-coins-plastic-play-money-for-kids-ages) --- *Product available on Desertcart Sri Lanka* *Store origin: LK* *Last updated: 2026-10-11*
