Corsair HS80 MAX Wireless Bluetooth PC PS5 Switch Gaming Headset – Gray

Bought 3 earcups to test them out against the stock one for the Corsair HS80 Max. Recommend watching the video since that will give you a good idea of what these look/feel like in your hands. But warning, I have used only the stock earcups for a prolonged gaming session. The rest of the cups are based on initial perception. I have a round but oblong head. This IS important for glasses-wearers, as explained later. For fitment, note if they compress on the top of your ears where your glasses sit. If you don't have glasses, then fitment is less important, and more about the headset clamping itself. Footstep audio baseline used from some Apex Legends Yotube video audio test "footstep at 0:04". I replayed the beginning ti second 0:07 to see if I can hear the footstep, how loud it was, and how clear it was. This is with Dolby Access and Sound ID tuned to my liking. Audio equalization was not changed for any of the earcups. The stock earcups are used as a baseline. [STOCK] Material: pelt, coarse fabric Foam type: low density foam Glasses scratchiness: loud, annoying Personal fitment: tight on top Noise blockage: ~50% Notes: The headset likes to apply pressure to the top of my head. The glasses are forced into my skin, feeling a tiny slight pain after 5 seconds of having them on. But this does not hinder long sessions, had these on for 6+ hours, no problem. Footstep audio is used as a baseline for this headset, so no marks. Fabric looks ugly, and is annoying. But zero felt sweat in 68°F temp. Foam is a hair off from reforming immediately. [WC FREEZE] Price: $24.95 Material: leather outside, hex fabric face side Foam type: medium density Glasses scratchiness: light, normal Personal fitment: too tight on top Noise blockage: ~80% on perfect seal Notes: Build quality seems the best on these. However, they don't properly seal on my head, leaving the slightest gap at bottom. This is probably due to how thick these things are. Keep in mind these are the thickest of the bunch, like, too thick. Due to the heavy rigidity, I don't think these will *properly* fit most heads. But this helps heavily with blocking out background sound, despite improper seal. I found in my audio test video for footsteps I had to turn up the volume by 10-20% to hear what I was listening for. Not like that is a problem, since each headset has different normal volume levels. In reality, you will never notice it unless you looked for it. This volume difference is probably due to the lack of seal on my head, or how much farther your ears actually are to the drivers. Foam almost immediately reforms after squishing. Not quite "memory foam", but still good quality medium density foam. [Soulwit] Price: $17.95 Material: leather outside, high thread fabric face side Foam type: low density Glasses scratchiness: light, normal Personal fitment: even Noise blockage: ~55% Notes: Good build quality. These are the thinnest of the bunch. Too me, is a good comparison to the stock Epos H6pro which is where I came from. Light cups with some sound passthrough. With glasses, these gave no initial discomfort. Footstep audio was about on par with stock earcups. Foam immediately reforms after pressing. Not memory foam in the slightest. Just a nice piece of normal foam. SIDENOTE: These also came with a dropper so you can put single water droplets to "cool the foam". Don't think this is necessary, since the material touching your skin is still fabric. Still nice to have I suppose. [Chinesium Offbrand "Thicker Upgrade Quality Earpads"] Price: $17.99 Material: hex fabric Foam type: memory foam Glasses scratchiness: medium, loud Personal fitment: almost even, good Noise blockage: ~75%Notes: These will prolly make you sweat the most due to how dense the foam is to trap the heat, but the fabric material is airy. The build quality honestly isn't bad. If you prefer a little mush to your head, don't like the sweat on outside leather, and don't wear glasses, I'd say these are better than the WC if you're worried about fitment and noise blockage. Just keep in mind it is bulky. On the head, it squishes easily making your ears closer to the drivers naturally. Foam is legitimately memory foam you are used to. Yet it feels like not much foam was used at all, as it really doesn't fill the space inside the fabric. [PERSONAL PICK] When I look for headphones, I like open backs, something with a good stock microphone, and angular design. The reason I chose this closed back headset was because it just looked so good, and doubled down on mic performance like the H6pros. The H6pros are a gold standard, as they have a great mic, amazing sound, open and closed designs, and replaceable cables and mic pieces. This headset is slightly worse, but all wireless headsets are. That is the trade off. Coming from open backs, I like background noice so I can hear my voice more naturally. And due to the fitment and feel with my glasses, the Soulwit takes the cake. These being the slimmest and lightest of them, it's no-brainer. And somehow even with the performance, fit, and style, these manage to be the cheapest for me. Second only to what came with the headset. If I were to pick something to block outside sound fully, it really is a gamble between the WC and the offbrand earcup. At that point, it comes down to whether or not you have glasses. The WC have tightness near the top, but are quiet with glasses. The offbrand cups have great even fitment, but are scratchy, almost as bad as the stock fabric. This is why I would just double down on Soulwit for glasses users. The noise blockage is still a little better than the stock earcups, and you get the best of both worlds feel wise. [CLOSING] If I were you, I would just buy all three like I did and try them to see what you like. Then return the other pairs to Amazon for free and get your refund.

Works great , much more comfortable than previous models

Being wireless, I expected a fairly decreased audio quality compared to good wired headphones, but the sound is amazing. I was raised as an audiophile, by an audiophile, so I really appreciate good speakers, and this headset does not disappoint. It’s the most comfortable set of over-ear headphones I’ve ever worn, the microphone and speaker quality are both phenomenal, and the controls are incredibly intuitive. The battery life lasts forever, and the headset can seamlessly switch between bluetooth (connected to calls and such on my iPhone) and the other wireless mode (connected to my PC for gaming and game development. The value for money is incredible, and I would absolutely suggest these to anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable, and otherwise phenomenal headset. Note: there is no noise cancellation. This wasn’t a problem for me, but it may be for others, so keep that in mind.

The HS80 max headset's quality, in terms of the material used, feels like the premium deserving for its higher end pricing. I had reservations for the thin hinge that connects the speakers to the headband, but my worries quickly evaporated when I tested them by twisting it around, and bending it a bit. They're made of a hard plastic I couldn't tell you the name of but, I wouldn't be worried to drop them and have it break. The microphone is alright for a gaming headset, your bros on discord and in games will hear you just fine, but nothing spectacular, and definitely not broadcast quality. Simply, they get the job done. I appreciate the headset's long battery life, 65 hours+ based on settings, and a quick recharge of 1.5 hours through USB-C. The main reason I got this headset was because of its long battery life, though, it doesn't come close to the Hyper X Cloud III's 300 hour battery life. This leads me to the point why I'd choose the HS80 over something like the Hyper X Cloud III's, personalization. The headset is can easily integrate to the iCUE Corsair Ecosystem, which is nice since I own many other corsair products, keeping my set up a similar theme. Through the iCUE software, you can select a personalized audio setup, that fits your hearing ranges. Furthermore, it can also control the RGB lights on headset, giving you a choice of going with the gaming aesthetic, with magical unicorn rainbow farts, or a more stealth approach. The headset also comes with the Dolby Atmos surround sound, taking advantage of the advance drivers in the headset, it provides an excellent audio experience, enhancing everything from gaming to movies. There are some downsides to the headset, I find the velcro strap adjustment system to the headset suspension band to be annoying to get right, compared to a traditional adjustment system. Furthermore, I'm worried about the longevity of the velcros in the strap from constant readjustments. The stock earmuffs uncomfortable, and puts pressure on my larger sized ears. I plan to replace them with a third party ear muffs to see if they will fix the comfortability issue. The last issue I have with the HS80 is the microphone when flipped up to mute, is irritating to my hair. It's bendable, so when you move your head around, the microphone also moves around, tussling with your hair. All in all, the headset is a premium headset worth its price. The reservations I have with it are not ones that would jeopardize someone from enjoying them, or is hopefully fixable.

First of all I’d like to say AMAZING! I will admit the price is pretty high but in my honest opinion and experience, it’s pretty worth it. I’ve looked at the reviews on this headset before buying and I was kind of skeptical. One of them was that it wasn’t adjustable, they were wrong and didn’t even bother looking at the manual. WHY DON’T PEOPLE READ!!! The quality is pretty decent, it’s compact, lightweight and it’s surprisingly small for how long it lasts. I had imagined it would be like the Razer KRAKEN V3 PRO but i was extremely off and the fact that I can easily get 2 maybe 3 days of gaming or playback during heavy/intense sessions is damn cool. Pros; comfortable, easy to use, small frame, lightweight, design is simple enough to match most setups, EXTREMELY LONG LASTING BATTERY! Really long range! TYPE C FOR CHARGING!!! Cons;(for those who care) it has a plastic frame, audio could be better but it was programmable to fit your needs, for cool people only. I can’t think of any reason not to grab these other than color choices..

I am 100% corsair peripherals (mouse, keyboard, mouse pad, RGB, fans, headsets, etc). So trust me when I say that it is irregular for me to leave a negative review on a corsair product. I have rocked the Void pro wireless headset for the last several years, and while I have generally loved the sound quality and comfort of it, I've never liked the extremely loose fit of the headset (will fall off your head with a hard shake of the head or leaning over even at a 45 degree angle), and was starting to get some connectivity problems and padding wearing out, so decided it was time for an upgrade. I went back and forth between the HS80 max and the virtuoso XT as they were around the same price point at the time with discounts, but online reviews/reddit led me to choose the HS80 Max. Upon first use, I was shocked at how fit/snug the headset was. These certainly were not going to fall off my head by shaking/leaning over. And corsair highly touts the elastic strap for comfortability, but what they leave out is the headsets biggest flaw in my opinion....there are NO adjustments whatsoever for this headset to expand the size for larger heads. If your head is the size of the outer band you're just SOL, and negates the point of the elastic band altogether. The reason this headset was so uncomfortably snug on my head is because there's no way to expand it for larger heads. I cannot believe they did not have an adjustable outer band for this headset. I also found the mesh around the ears to be abrasive and cause irritation on my head, but it might've been because it was such a tight fit. Furthermore, I was very disappointed in the sound quality of this headset. I used the dolby atmos and sound ID option. Perhaps I am just so used to 7.1 surround in my gaming headsets for many years I just wasn't used to atmos, but I use dolby atmos for my surround sound on my home theater system, and when playing video games with this headset the sound was.....very bland/lackluster. You can hear sounds coming from the sides/back, but nowhere near the quality of the 7.1 sound on the void pro headset in my opinion. Very disappointing. I returned the headset, and am trying to decide whether to give the virtuoso series a try, but for the first time in my gaming career I have hesitancy in choosing corsair for my PC gaming peripherals. If you're in the same boat as me, I would exercise caution with this set.

I have been hesitant to buy wireless peripherals because of battery life concerns. Also I had a Roccat XTD 5.1 Digital headset before this and that had true 5.1 surround sound with 3 speakers per earcup so I doubted virtual surround could hold a candle to true surround. Well that Roccat headset just got to old. After 10 years of heavy service and 3 sets of earcup pads it was time to replace it. I finally settled on the HS80 Max wireless due to numerous positive reviews from Youtubers who have proven to be impartial and a friend owned a pair. I must say these work very well. The sound stage is broad and well defined. If you use the Dolby Software then movies, gaming or general computing sounds sound just as they should and it is highly customizable. As for battery life and range. I charge these once every day or 2 and have no issues and the range is good. I can walk all over most of the house without losing connection. The one downside is to get the full benefit of this headset you have to use the Dolby Atmos software which is free when it detects this headset but that's also the issue. If you change output devices on your PC for any reason the Dolby software can't detect the headset if it isn't default and then you lose all virtualization. Using the windows software does work but it's not even close to the quality of Dolby Atmos for this headset. All in all though it's a minor problem. This is a good headset for the price.

Headset is a nice construction, feels sturdy, but very comfortable on the head. The audio quality is fantastic, though, the Sound IQ is a bit of a gimmick. What lacks, is the microphone. From a $150+ Headset, I would assume a quality mic, but from what my friends tell me, is I sound like I am on an old 360 headset. If I were to go back in time, I would probably go with a logitech. I wish more was put into the headset for functional purposes, and not as much as RGB lighting and voice commands. Design - 4/5 Functionality - 3/5 (Due to poor mic) Clarity - 4/5 sound, 3/5 mic Overall, a good headset, I am just not sure if it is worth the price tag

Very high quality sound and build quality. The icue softwares sound ID fine tunes the sound even further making them sound incredible. They are heavy but very comfortable even after long periods. The battery lasts a long time and recharges quickly, I've never had a problem with the battery. I can't comment on the mic as I've never used it but if its as good as both the build and sound then the mic will be awesome too. If thus set gets stolen then I'm buying another HS80 Max straight away. 10/10.

I have read all those reviews online, but so glad I ignored the negative ones. The sound quality is just amazing after setting up your own soundID in the iCue software. Never even once disconnected from my PC. Totally worth it! Mic quality and build quality also superb!

Après une grosse déception il y'a quelques années du a la casse sans raison de l'arceau du Corsair HS60 au bout d'une semaine d'utilisation, mon intérêt pour les casques de la marque avait drastiquement chuté. Ce qui m'a permis de tester ces dernières années énormément de modèles de marques différentes dont : Beyerdynamic / Astro / HyperX ou encore Steelseries. Il faut dire que se HS80 MAX me fait de l'œil depuis un moment, mais j'avais très peur qu'il soit de mauvaise qualité et a des années lumière de mon Astro A40 TR dernier en date du a la grosse différence de prix et au faite que l'Astro a une table de mixage qui aurait pu faire la différence. Finalement selon moi et malgré plusieurs réglage de mon Astro le HS80 MAX est au dessus que sa soit en therme de confort de sonorité ou encore de qualité de son. Jamais j'aurais pensé être aussi surpris d'un casque a ce prix si abordable pour ce qu'il propose et en plus sans fil et je suis pas payé pour le dire. En therme de confort je le comparerai au Beyerdynamic DT 990 pro qui est vraiment un bonheur de therme de confort. Le HS80 MAX est vraiment bon a ce niveau avec sa lanière réglable et ses mousses a mémoire de forme en alcantara qui enferme bien les oreilles en floutant le bruit extérieur est ce qui me correspond. Le fait qu'il soit sans fil et connectable a mon téléphone rapidement et facilement m'a vraiment motivé a me le procurer c'est vraiment un plus dans mon cas et de plus avec une autonomie vraiment balèse. Pour parler du micro, J'en ai pas énormément l'utilité car j'ai un micro avec un bras mais je l'ai quand même tester en conversation téléphonique avec plusieurs personnes différente pour avoir leurs avis et d'après eux la voix est bien mis en valeur aucun grésillement ou bruit parasite le son de la voix est clair et net même en parlant fort. Grace a l'application Icue de Corsair ou l'on peu régler l'intégralité du matériel de la marque on peut bien entendu régler les lumières l'égaliseur, l'attribution des touches du casque. Il ya même le soundID qui permet d'effectuer un test d'audition pour régler le casque suivant votre audition, C'est fort. Vous aurez également l'accès au Dolby Atmos avec ce casque ce qui semble logique mais je trouve important de le préciser. Si vous cherchez un casque polyvalent avec un rapport qualité prix selon moi imbattable et qui vous permettra d'écouter de la musique, des films, de passer des appels clair ou encore de jouer sans faire de compromis sur la qualité de son et de confort (même en portant des lunettes) vous pouvez y'aller sans réfléchir.
