Surprisingly moving, a story not just for kids
When I first opened this book I cried! :’-) I didn’t expect it to be written so deeply from the heart with tremendous empathy for both the child’s and the mother’s experiences. My daughter reads the words and takes in the illustrations at her age level but there is also a lot to read into for adults. Well done, highly recommended.

This is an important story about love, difference, and the importance of just being you!
Mama’s Love Language is a beautifully illustrated picture book with the perfect combination of vibrant, engaging illustrations and an authentic story, told from a child’s point of view. Straddling two cultures, the main character, Jade, comes to realize that there is more than one way to experience the love of a parent. This book is written at just the right time to remind us all of the benefits of embracing cultures and traditions that are different than our own. As a fellow children’s book author, parent, and educator, I highly recommend this book.

A celebration of identity
This is such a beautiful story of arriving at self-acceptance. There’s so much packed in here: the immigrant story, different ways of the expression of love, the struggle of identity with all of the ups and downs and so much more. Coming to terms with who we are despite pressures of assimilation is such a tough issue for kids growing up in a multicultural home or environment but through that challenge they develop a greater more wholesome sense of self. Read on kindle unlimited and would highly recommend this book!

Wonderful Story
Mama’s Love Language is such a wonderful story of growing up in a multi cultural household. So much of this story resonates, and is told through bold illustration and the voice of a young child trying to find a sense of self. I loved reading and sharing this book with my children and having them react to the rich descriptions of the feelings and foods she experiences. There needs to be more stories like this, that help infuse cultural diversity into the minds of all families.

Mama's Love Language Sensitively Bridges Two Worlds of Parenting and Love
Through the lens of a bicultural household, the story explores the unique ways in which love is expressed. The mom expresses her love through acts of care such as cooking delicious meals and communicating the importance of studying. The father is equally endearing and expresses his love through verbal affirmations like "I love you". The jewel of this book is that love can be communicated in many ways and helps the child bridge two world views. The message of love and acceptance will resonate for children from various cultural backgrounds as well as an invaluable resource for parenting.

Wonderful Book For Our Two-Year Old Twins!
We don't have a TV in our house so reading books is how our 2 year-old twin boys learn stories about the world. Our house is filled with books and Mama's Love Language has quickly become a favorite with our boys who specifically request it when they sit down to drink their milk and hear a story. They quickly picked up on some of the central points in the book about Jade being sad and her mom showing love through the food she makes and insists that Jade eat (there are a lot of parallels in our household) though they're still a little too young to understand some of the things related to identity and trying to fit into a world when you're not the same as everyone else.I'd highly recommend this book as an addition to any toddler's library and looking forward to future books from this author about Jade growing up with her family.

Fantastic and Important Children’s Book
Just wanted to say thank you to Elisa Stad for writing such a wonderful book. We have been searching for a children’s book that features a mixed heritage Chinese/ white British family and this comes pretty darn close. And it is wonderful the story includes the detail of the mother being a Vietnamese Chinese refugee because this is an important part of our family story too. My daughter loves the book! We highly recommend it.
