Franklin MES-2400 Digital Talking Dictionary, Multi-Language Translator, Talking Phrase Book & More

The speaker was very muffled. Everything else was perfect, but we specifically got this for our children to type in words they come across that they can’t read, type them in, then play aloud so they can hear the spoken word. Unfit for this purpose, speaker was inadequate. We have returned- the returns process was a lot easier than expected considering we are in the uk.

So far I love this device. Good size, and an abundance of information with no internet or power source required. I wish more Franklin devices were still available as new products. There is still a market for these types of products. I have other old Franklin devices I found on eBay but it's difficult to find new old stock. How wonderful it is to have lo-tech learning tools in the palm of your hand without having to connect to anything. It is pricey, but I got a like-new one and saved a few dollars.

It’s very handy and easy to use

This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased. It is nothing like the previous generations of Franklin translators. Every one of these that I have owned in the past were excellent. This one here does not seem to have any knowledge of the Spanish language at all. It has an extremely limited vocabulary, even I know more Spanish than this thing does, and I'm just a student. And then when it finally does succeed in translating something, it is very time consuming and tedious to try to find the actual translation. You have to sift through all kinds of nonsense to get to the definition. Then when you want to translate another word, you have to reprogram this thing to be in dictionary mode for every word that you want to translate. It takes away from my study time. It would be quicker and more efficient to use a physical dictionary with pages that you have to flip through. I don't understand what Franklin was thinking when they came out with this thing. I'm probably going to end up sending this thing back for a refund. Save yourself a headache, don't buy this piece of garbage.
