Is the design a "wrap" design? How do they sharpen - does the design shred?

I bought these for my residents at work, they use them to fill out their menus, I haven’t noticed a y peeling, they came sharpened but I do believe you have to sharpen them, not sure how easy they sharpen, I think someone else has been doing it, but I do like them.
