Complete Ballades, Impromptus and Sonatas: The Paderewski Edition (Dover Classical Piano Music)

This is a terrific collection. I love the way that pages sit flat on the page (excellent binding), but more than that, where can you buy such a complete collection for this money? Chopin lovers; this is very worth buying. Chopin's fingering looks to have been adhered to throughout.

Fantastic value for money.

This book contains a lot of music for it's cost; the 240 pages include Chopin's four ballades - including the one dramatically featured in Polanski's recent film "The Pianist". I have not yet attempted the Impromptus, but they are there along with Chopin's complete piano sonatas.The paper size is just larger than A4, and there are on average six systems on each page. The notes are smaller than I would have liked, but they are always clear. They appear faithful to the originals - no excessive manipulations. The editor of this edition is Chopin's teaching assistant, Carl Mikuli. There is helpful and interesting Foreword by him, but if you are extremely picky, you will not find a comprehensive list of what other editions say, or doubtful readings.As the title suggests, the book is a little floppy - the paper is fluid rather than crisp, and so those little hooks that some pianos have are useful to hold it in place. Dover is now my favourite publishing company, and counteracts ABRSM publishing and its outlandish prices. This is high-quality, well-presented score - but I am unsure how well it will fare physical wear-and-tear.

Come i Waltzes e gli Scherzi, entrambi completi, anche questo libro è completo. Tuttavia, questo libro è sconsigliabile per i pianisti che sono ancora in fase di studio, ma è un libro veramente eccezionale per chi ama la musica classica e per chi ama profondamente il compositore polacco Fryderyk Chopin. Acquisto soddisfacente.
