Watersafe Science Project Kit

I bought this kit for my sons science project. We opted to test tap water, filtered water (Brita filter), Fiji and Zephyrhills bottled water. The kit is very nicely set out, the CD is simple and it is easy to record the results, plus the testing of the water samples was in itself easy enough. I do however have to question the accuracy due to a couple of results.To begin with our tap water smells and tastes of chlorine and yet the test did not indicate any chlorine present. I wonder how sensitive the test strips are?Secondly having left the bacteria tests for 48 hours I found that they had ALL FOUR turned yellow which indicates bacteria in the samples. I am not sure that this should be so and in retrospect wish I had tested the distilled water as a control sample.I contacted the company via the phone number on the box but got the answer machine. I left a message but have not heard back. I honestly do not know what to think.I am not sure that I would buy this kit again as the test strips whilst easy to use may not be as accurate or easy to read as when mixing the water with chemicals in a test tube. We found it quite hard to pick a color match and the nitrate/nitrite tests were actually yellowish in color as opposed to staying white or turning a shade of pink.

The only downside was one of the tests, Pesticide, did not return a result for all four water tests. However, I emailed the company that makes the test and customer service promptly offered to ship new test strips for that test. The CD contains a summary of each of the contaminates testing, which I had made my son research on his own. The CD summary was a nice overview and I let him cite some information off the CD since it was very easy to understand, and cetainly more at his level than some of the information gathered from some of the technical websites.

My son used these kits for his science fair project. Got second at the local level; honorable mention at regionals.

Great Science Fair Project for Middle School kid age. It had everything that you would need to complete the project. Would definitely recomment purchasing this for a school project.

Least expensive method for purchasing larger quantities of bacterial water test kits. Same agar vials, much cheaper per vial this way.

This product did what it states I was able to check the quality of my well water with no problem vary simple to use.

This is all you need to do a great science project. It was very easy to use, and this disc provides charts to use.
