It works, nothing spectacular
This product works as in it grows grass pretty well and has a good bit of fertilizer with it. It filled in the gaps in my already established lawn but I probably needed a little more as the grass was a little thin in a few patches. It's a pretty good value as equivalent amount of grass seed and fertilizer from other brands would be a good bit more expensive.

Huge disappointment
This did absolutely NOTHING for my yard, unfortunately. Despite following the instructions to a T. What a disappointment.

Unfortunately open bag and seeds everywhere but good seeds
The package was intact but the bag itself was cut open ( not from me!) so a lot of seeds were loose in the package. I tried to claim but they wanted me to send it back . I didn’t think of putting it into my car and so on ..So I kept it and used it .The seeds were good it really filled gras into the bold spots in the yard .

i wish it could have worked
I was really hopeful for this item, but unfortunately, it didn’t work for me. I followed the instructions carefully, but didn't see the results I was expecting. My lawn didn’t grow as much as I hoped, and I’m pretty disappointed with the overall performance. Perhaps it works better in different conditions, but it just wasn't effective for my yard.

Mostly fertilizer to boost established lawns
I ordered this 20 lb bag of Sunday Sun and Shade seed to help my lawn regrow. I’ve been pulling moss and clover so I need something to help the grass fill in the spots. The listing photo of the bag contents seems pretty accurate. There is lots of pelletized chemical material and a bit of grass seed. The product is meant to be applied to an actively growing lawn, not just spread in bare patches. There’s an easy-open notch on the bag but it doesn’t tear across nicely. I’d recommend scissors for sure. It’s summer so it’s not the optimal temperature for germination right now (works best when outside temperatures are 60-75F), but I wanted to get an idea of how well it worked. I didn’t want to use it on my whole lawn in these temperatures but I applied some to two bare patches and sprinkled some in a couple of pots just to see what the germination would be like in different sun/shade/temperature scenarios. The recommended rate of 10 lb per 1500 square feet is pretty sparse in my opinion, even in actively growing lawn. I calculated the amount of product that should be applied to the surface area of the pots and it was barely more than a half gram for a 6” diameter pot. My scale wouldn’t even measure that small of an amount. The best approximation is a few granules. So in order to be able to observe germination I did apply more than recommended. In one pot I sprinkled about 10x the recommendation and in the other about 30x the recommendation (see photos.) The two bare patches got somewhere in between these amounts. One pot is on the counter indoors where the temperature should be better for seed germination, and one pot is outside in partial sun, partial shade. One bare patch is mostly in the shade and gets water every once in a while. The other gets watered thoroughly every morning and is in partial sun, partial shade. The listing says there will be ‘visible improvements in just 8-21 days.’ 5 days after planting, we saw some grass seeds germinating in the pot that is inside on the counter, in more ideal conditions. The next day we saw more germinating in the inside pot and saw the first seeds germinating in the outside pot. It has now been 18 days since planting. The pots are definitely growing new healthy looking grass (see photos, but remember these are planted at 10x and 30x the recommended rate!) With the bare patches in the lawn, it’s difficult to tell what may be the original grass regrowing or the Sunday seeds sprouting. In established lawns I’m pretty sure that most of the improvement comes from the fertilizer. But, having a little grass seed in there will probably help in areas of lawn that are a little more bare and just need some assistance. In bare areas you probably need a higher grass seed rate if you are looking to fill in bare patches.

Supplemental to established lawn
I wouldn't use this on bare spots but rather to thicken up an established lawn, and preferably after aeration. The reason I believe this is because there seems to be a higher ratio of fertilizer to seed. So it would work well where the fertilizer can help your already established lawn and the seed can fill in gaps. It's really hard for me to tell just how much my lawn improved from this as I added it late in the season hoping to help growth in the spring.
