This is a nice holiday building kit. You can use it as an advent calendar, or just build it all. They are pretty simple to build, but 5-7yo might need a little help from an adult. They are cute, if not super durable. I'm not sure it's something that will get saved and kept for next Christmas, but maybe.

This Santa's Railroad was our first KiwiCo set but definitely not our last. The quality alone makes it worth the money. I was surprised to see the advent boxes already made. I was expecting to have to put them together myself ahead of time. It's really a great ready to go gift. Each box opens to the instructions inside and the materials are, as stated above, great quality and amazing attention to detail. Everything is included which is fantastic including string to hang the advent calendar or a wooden display stand. Perfect all in one kit, I get the hype.

So much of the pre-Christmas season is about sensory-overload, unfortunately, so I am happy to see kits which are certainly enjoyable and entertaining, but which give children a focused task to work on, rather than plopping them down in front of a multi-hour Christmas movie marathon. Many children will certainly enjoy feeling accomplished for having worked every day to create something fun and interesting. Parents might consider making these activities the centerpiece for a Christmas meal, setting them up in a large, prominent window, or perhaps setting aside a bookshelf for children to display and keep their creations. My own children are 11 and 14, so they're a little old for these kits, but plan to give one to friends and to keep one for a lighthearted activity to enjoy. Of the families that might receive these kits, the children range in age from 1 to 10, so at least a few of the children will be in the right age group for these toys! The packaging is really nice and helps make the kit even more giftable than it already is.
