Why did I wait?
Product was shipped quickly. Directions are minimal (if you really need them) but overall worked very well. I will I would have spent the money years ago. It sure beats using a torch and crowbar to spread and a hammer to close. Makes a difficult task very simple and safer. I wish I would have purchased years ago.

did what i asked it to do. makes replacing cross links so much easier.
well built. seems equal to similar pliers i used 40 years ago. Dont know the brand name of those from years ago but was nice to see that there are still some quality tools at the lower end of the price scale.

There are other like this, but buy thos one:
Westward is generally a Grainger brand of tool soldto contractors, but when I saw the brand and price, I had to order it.This tool is to mend chain, either by opening it or tightening the tire chain cross link connectors. It is NOT ment to cut chain; you need bolt cutters to cut chain. I would definitely recommend this item.

This to makes tire chain repair simple
Saved so much time and frustration. Now I have a specialized tool hanging on the wall of my shop that I may not use for years but it was worth it for the job I had to do and I told family I had it and hopefully they will be able to get some use out of it as well
