I've just finished reading Cynthia M. Peterson's A Dog's Tales and Woes and I had to write a review as this collection of sonnets truly touched my heart. Written from a dog's perspective, the author has a knack for getting inside a dog's head and has managed to put into words that magical quality that makes a dog (wo)man's best friend. Reading the entire collection from beginning to end, I was smiling one minute and tearing up the next (because the woes are so very woeful, yet so sadly true). This is a book for not only dog owners, but anyone who has ever loved and cared for any living creature. Honestly, it's a must read for everyone as it manages to highlight the plight of dogs that society sometimes overlooks. But the best part has to be the unexpected laughs I got from poems like "Day Care Play" and "Blame the Dog". The whole thing makes me appreciate my own best friend just a little bit more and I can't wait for the next title from this author.

This is a wonderful book about the lives of our beloved dogs. If you have ever experienced the joy of a pet, then you will enjoy reading this book and how much unconditional love dogs bring us. Dogs come into our lives in different ways such as a rescue animal and no matter how they were harmed or neglected, they still find a way to love their human family. This book describes all of the goodness in dogs. Get a copy for your friends and family. They will enjoy it too.

Great book for any animal lover. The author reinforces our belief that "dogs to have feelings" by conveying that belief in a number of engaging and sometimes humorous sonnets. You may shed a tear but will also smile, depending on which sonnet you are reading. Her support of rescue groups by donating some of each book sale shows her commitment to making life better for the not so fortunate animal.This 5 star book will make a great Christmas gift for any of your animal loving friends.

This book of sonnets is a heart warming and sometimes heart wrenching look at the world through the unconditional loving eyes of our favorite dog. Our first dog was named Sunshine and he lived up to his name every day of his life. This book brought all those joyous memories flooding back. Thanks to the author for that - and Sunshine sends you five angelic Siberian Husky pawprints for making me smile!

The author surely knows a secret we all should hope to know. Animals lovers will be touched and entertained by the authors ability to convey such caring, sensitive, funny and serious points of view from an animals perspective. What an adorable read! Cynthia captures the essence of the relationship between a dog owner and his or her dog. Honestly, if you've ever had a pet this book definitely speaks volumes to you. Love leaps off every page. I would definitely recommend!
