Excellent! Comprehensive integrative book for the geriatric population -- but also for all!

As a physician, I find this book to be an excellent and valuable resource!! The most comprehensive I found on this topic and very well-written. The editor, Dr. Kogan is an outstanding well-known physician in his field and has assembled a group of leading experts to write on the use of integrative medicine in the aging population.Whether you are in medical field or taking care of aging family members, this book is a must-have as it provides very comprehensive approach to functional assessments and integrative treatments, as well as prevention, of variety of conditions affecting the aging with minimal/no side effects. Not to mention that much of this info applies to the rest of population as well.I found the chapters on The Healthy Gut and Neurodegenerative Diseases (Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases) particularly impressive!This book is supported by scientific evidence and well-referenced studies for each chapter. Well-written and very informative. Overall excellent book!

Don’t let the words Geriatric Medicine in the title fool you, this book is for everyone. I find myself reaching for this book again and again. I wanted a modern, integrative, centered guidebook that was founded in what we have learned from traditional medicine while being broader and wholistic. The guidance in this book seems more free of the constraints of money driven medical advice, favoring invasive noninvasive therapies, nutritional guidance, and lifestyle modifications. The contributors present a heart centered voice that respects the intelligence behind what nature’s given us to work with. As I own this book and time passes I realized that I’ve stopped reaching for the other medical sourcebooks I have on my self. I prefer the patient centered approaches here. Thanks Oxford Univ Press, and thanks to the contributors and editors. I hope this is a sign of a trend in the direction of integrative medicine.

Excellence book! Highly recommend. Well-written, easy read for anyone, and not just health-care practitioner, contains lots of useful and practical information

Highly recommend! It's very important to me that patients and clinicians use and have access to every tool at their disposal, both Eastern and Western (and all that's in between). It's not just for those who want additional means for health, but also those who wish to optimize their health. A great read for anyone and very well organized.
