I got the L and I am a 7 or 7.5 and they are a good fit

Yes have worn with wellies. Very warm and comfortable and they stay up excellently. They are a snug fit, I used to try to tuck my trousers into my socks with wellies but these are a bit too tight.

Q: How far up the leg do they go

Sorry I can’t take a picture. However, socks go about 5 inches from the floor to the top of the sock when it’s on your foot. My lower legs are very slim. Fabulous socks in every way, you won’t be disappointed.

Q: Are these socks too warm for hiking in the summer (July/august)?

i have have been informed by my parternr,whom i bought them for, that they are not too warm to hike in..you may need some other clothes to go with them though, you might get some funny looks if you go hiking in just these sock!! ;-)
