LEGO Steam Train

My 2 year old got this set (with two add-on’s) for his birthday and he enjoys it thoroughly. Even more so when we build and play with him. We have enjoyed this set as much as he has and intend on buying more duplo town add-ons! Very intelligent train set with a neat app that lets you control the train. Love the push power feature. Lego in general is expensive but I do think this is a good value for money set! You get hours of fun (and some time to sit and enjoy your coffee while your toddler plays). Eats up batteries like most kid toys do so consider getting rechargeables!

I bought this for my two year old train lover. He absolutely loves it. It’s such a great toy because it encourages creativity and gives children hours of play. He loves connecting it with his other Duplo train cars, putting people inside it, stacking blocks on it, etc. It’s also great for changing it up as dinner time. You can put food in the train and have it drive around. My son loved it. Aside from all this good stuff, it’s also fantastic quality. Really solid and can withstand a toddler.

Great product

I write this review based on decades of experiences raising a family and as a consumer. I bought this with my two year old granddaughter in mind. She is a very bright child and was putting the track together more or less straight out of the box. The only criticism I have is that there is a severe shortage of track. Not got a bigger room, use less track but if there is space, the supplied track is simply too small. The intelligent instruction bars are good although some of them are the next best thing to pointless. The train needs batteries, none are supplied which is a shame but at least they are a common thus easily obtained size. Using hand pressure is stfficient to push start the train. Assembly of the train, track and accessories was very easy and the child did so having been shown just the once. I got extra track elsewhere Overall, quite expensive with too little track but it will give a lot of pleasant play time for kids to about five years old

Good product, hours of fun for my grandson

Brought this train set for Christmas for our daughter at 10months. She was too young to use it at first but happily pulled the track apart and threw it around! Pieces of track sit together rather than click together so easy to tear apart or knock out of place. We were planning on waiting until she was bigger to open it but we were too inquisitive and wanted to play with it ourselves. Now daughter is one, she loves it. Watches it and puts the characters and bricks in and out of the train as it passes her. The train is easy to push start, and stops easily if our daughter blocks it. Train stops to refills on the blue and goes into reverse on the green brick which makes it more exciting than just watching it go round in circles. Only issue is the yellow action brick does not do anything. Possibly our batteries are a cheap brand so not powerful enough? Also purchased the town train track expansion pack to make the track a bit longer, was not really necessary as we dont use the red action bricks at the moment or the 'dead end' parts of the track. Usually just make one big loop, however the extra pieces mean we can sit our daughter in the middle and the track is big enough to go right round her

Weve just bought these for our soon to be 3 year old! He is obsessed with trains and i know he will adore this. Hunby and myself set it all up when it arrived last week to check it worked and loved it! My only criticism is that for £50 you do not get a lotfor your money. Bare minimum track, and bare minimum lego duplo. I do love the activity buttons for the track though. Seems very robust and the push and go technology is great!

Duplo is expensive at the best of times. But i have to say that this train set has stood the test of time with a toddler who likes to run it off the end of the dining table and it still continues to work. I would recommend using rechargeable batteries as otherwise you will be chomping through other batteries at quite a rate. There are enough pieces to basically only make an oval track but with an expansion set you could make more fun tracks. The app works great too connecting to the train using bluetooth allowing you to change light colour, use the horn, go forward and backward at different speeds. Its a very kid friendly app, my 2 year old has mastered it.
