Spider-Man (2002) / Spider-Man 2 (2004) / Spider-Man 3 (2007) - DVD Set

Three great Blu ray Films thoroughly enjoyed them and the price was a bargin. Highly recommend.

I'm not going to do a traditional review for this set: it looks great, it sounds great, it's dirt-cheap, and that's pretty much all you need to know. Other reviews will go into more detail about these things. What I AM going to do here is clear up a bit of confustion regarding the special features and whatnot. While the backs of the individual Blu-ray cases seem to list all of the extras, they are NOT complete and do not mention several of the extras that are actually on the discs. The reviews on here listing the features are just taken from the backs of the boxes, so hopefully this will make everything clear. So, without further ado, here's the full list. (All special features are from the original 2-disc DVDs unless stated otherwise.) Even though this set contains more extras than at first glance, it still doesn't contain everything from the DVDs, so you may want to hang on to those if you already have them. SPIDER-MAN The first film by far fares the best in terms of retention of extras, and both of the features it loses are pretty disposeable: "Weaving the Web" Trivia Track Peter Parker's Darkroom: Photo Gallery SPIDER-MAN 2 / SPIDER-MAN 2.1 Spider-Man 2.1 takes a big hit in the extras department, with most of its features MIA, plus a few strange omissions from the original Spider-Man 2 release: Interwoven: The Women of Spider-Man featurette (2) [considering the other two featurettes from SM2 were included, this is a particularly glaring omission] Spidey Sense 2 Trivia Track (2 and 2.1) Webisodes (2) "Enter the Web" multi-angle feature (2) Theatrical Trailer (2) Photo Gallery (2) Inside 2.1 documentary (2.1) With Great Effort Comes Great Recognition featurette (2.1) Villains of Spider-Man 3 Featurette (2.1) Multi-Angle Score (2.1) Spider-Man 3 Sneak Peek featurette (2.1) SPIDER-MAN 3 The biggest loss from the DVDs and the previous Blu-ray trilogy set from 2007 is the bonus disc of Spider-Man 3, which contains the majority of that film's extras, which leaves the one in this set pretty sparse in the bonuses department (though this is sort-of made up for by the inclusion of extras on the other 2 films unlike the 2007 trilogy). I'm not going to list all of the features that aren't on here, since I'd just be listing the contents of the second disc; suffice to say it's a lot. The first disc even says "Feature Disc" when you boot it up, and the disc itself reads "Feature Film"; obviously Disc 1 of the 2-disc set has just been stuck in a new case without its other half. However, if you're desperate to have all of the special features on Blu-ray, you can now get the original release of SM3 for around 2 quid used, so it's really not a big deal. You can even physically place the "hinge" from the old case in the new one so that your shiny new Spider-Man 3 Blu-ray is a complete 2-disc set once again and give the spare movie disc/case to a friend, like I did. IN THE END... I was tempted to knock a star off of this review for the pointless exclusion of the Spider-Man 3 bonus disc, but for this price, and the host of new-to-Blu extras for the first two films, it's hard to complain. If you're an extras nut then it'll literally cost you pennies to get that disc separately if you so desire. Three great films, one great price, if you have a Blu-ray player and you like Spider-Man then this is a no-brainer. I hope you found this review helpful. 'Nuff said!

My set just arrived a short while ago, so I thought I'd share my opinions and such. The box that all the cases are in is really nice. It's thin cardboard, but does the job well. As you can see, it says "Spider-Man Trilogy" with half of his face as the attraction. The text and the all the web lines are raised which is a good touch. The spine and the top text is flat. Over on the back, slightly odd here - It has the Blu-Ray covers of the previous release, and yet the ones included here that you get are totally different. The cases... The front artwork on each is what I would call amateur and looks kind of rushed. First film has half of Spider-Man and Goblin's face either side, it says "Spider-Man" at the top and then a massive "1" at the bottom. Why is the 1 needed? The film is just called 'Spider-Man'. Same with part two and three. Spider-Man 2 has Doc Ock and Spider-Man, one on each side, just like the final film has Spider-Man and Dark Spider-Man's face eiter side. Each film also has a massive 2 or 3 at the bottom. All three cases also have a solid blue background. The inside casing and the back of each case has some really nice artwork which makes up for the front covers. Even though I would prefer the original front art from the previous releases, but I don't spend much time looking at front covers really. So I'm pretty much over it the moment I opened the box. The discs have some nice art on them too. Labelled "Spider-Man", "2" and "3". One and two have a similar picture on them, of a close up of part of the suit, where the third has the symbiote starting to take over. Audio wise, a few people have already mentioned that the specs on the box/cases are slightly off to what you actually get, so I won't ramble on about that. There just seems to be some unfortunate errors made here that weren't checked before it was put it to mass production. It's something most can probably easily get over. With amazing audio and stunning video quality on this set it's impossible to argue with £9.97 brand new! I'm very pleased I got my hands on it! Just like when I got the X-Men Quadrioligy from Amazon for £10 - brilliant set at a bargin price. This is probably on offer because of the upcoming film, 'The Amazing Spider-Man', so it might not stay at £10 for much longer. Hurry!

Brilliant, I loved the nostalgia of watching this again, there's something about dvd quality that I just love!

I am a big comic book movie fan and as a result needed to get this collection. Having seen Spiderman 1 & 2 on dvd a group of us went to our local cinema to see the third installment to mixed reviews. Skip forward a couple of years and the invention of blu ray and I had to get this. The movies themselves vary Spiderman is the beginning and so we learn how mild teen Peter Parker becomes the web slinger of myth. We meet his love interest his best friend and his nemesis The Green Goblin. There is also a brilliant cameo from the late Randy "Macho Man" Savage as Bonesaw the wrestler a budding spiderman battles in an attempt to get cash. Special effects are plentiful and some scenes are pretty good the last twenty minutes being a good example. But some of the distance shots do not hold up as well as I would have thought this may be because Blu ray is simply to clear for the effects I dont know either way Spiderman gets a 4.5 out of 5. In Spiderman 2 we see Parker battling with his duel indenitites and having to battle the brilliant Dr Octopus. The effects in this movie seem a little sharper and with origin story already covered its just two hours of fun as Spiderman and Doc Oc battle in all areas of the city. For me the best of the bunch and Spiderman 2 get 5 out of 5. Spiderman 3 I believe suffers from the success of the prievious two movies. The plot for the movie is way too complicated. Had it have been left at merely Spiderman and the battle with himself and his black suited version it would have been pretty good but instead of leaving it as ultimatley Spiderman vs Venom we get bad guy overlaod in the form of the Sandman and the New Goblin neither of which were really needed. It seems with Spiderman 3 they just attempted to tie up loose ends. The best friend becomes the Goblin the girl he always wanted he seems to just throw away and the black suit which is supposed to make the hero cocky and a little evil in is pursuits seemingly does nothing else apart from enable him to dance. The final battle is exatly as I saw it at the cinema way too fast with way too much going on. Its difficult to see whats going on and at times it actually made me feel a little nautious. In short the movie lets down the set and gets just 3 out of 5. In closing the boxset is good not great. Mostly it is the bad guys is these movies that make you watch Green Goblin and Dr Octopus are two brilliant Marvel villians and once in the suit Maguire is a fairly good Spiderman some of the effects dont look as good as they could but its enjoyable and a must for any superhero fan. With the franchise reboot now here it will be a brilliant comparison. Features are good box set is good value for money and hopefully this review is useful.

This six disc set is the only one to collect together all of the extra features that appeared on the three original Spiderman movies, and because of that it soars over this Spider-Man Trilogy Deluxe Box Set [DVD ], which despite including the slightly extended Spiderman 2.1 junks all of the original extras from that film in favour of a few new bits mostly aimed at promoting the then new Spiderman 3. This set even beats the supposedly superior Blu Ray boxes. To gain all the extras on that format you need to own both box sets; the first was issued at the time of Spiderman 3, and only has extras for that film. A second set issued a few years later did feature extras for Spidey 1 & #2, whilst ignoring #3 - a real rip-off! The packaging is quite simple; a slim cardboard outer case houses the three original double DVD's of Spiderman (2002), Spiderman 2 (2004) and Spiderman 3 (2007). The extras include (deep breath here) commentaries from cast, director, crew and producers for all three movies, making of documentaries and plenty of feature-ettes on all aspects of the film-making. There are also features on the history of Spiderman comics, across the board interviews and features, and music videos. In fact more enough stuff to satisfy any fan of the worlds favourite web slinger! Spiderman also features DVD Rom material on both discs, but you'll need a well-oiled PC running Windows 95 or higher to view any of these features. Many require an internet connection, and the idea of using a computer that old on-line in 2012 is... well it's just a no-go. I did however manage to run an animated Spiderman screen saver, which is pretty good. Despite that, this is an excellent VFM set of the movies that arguably kick-started the now hugely successful Marvel cine-universe franchise.

Brought to complete my collection. As expected, no issues.
