Hi "No". I think rockwool is more for... reducing cold air, for making rooms more warm but not really for reducing noise. It is often used in lofts to insulate, to make warmer. For noise solution, You may find a special "acoustic wool" online. Hope this helps

can it be used as a thermal insulation

I bought this as a filler between air bricks to stop the draft. But they do breath. If you want thermal insulation on a large scale to do a room. I would have thought a thermal backed plaster board would be a better option. Like a dry linning board. Hope this helps.
