Accurate, Reliable, Affordable, Fast and Easy to Use!
Finally I have a simple, accurate and easy to use monitor calibration tool! I've tried the other popular brand the i1 Studio, now owned by Calibrite (previously X-Rite) and found it was inconsistent due to having too many features in one unit. The calibration process was lengthy, complicated and ambiguous, but worst of all the software backward compatibility when X-Rite handed its consumer products to Calibrite resulted in buggy operation. The attempt to force an upgrade to new product was apparent. The Datacolor Spyder, on the other hand is a joy to use, much faster and color/contrast/brightness are all very accurate! After calibrating two side-by-side monitors, the images are almost perfectly identical, and certainly when the are printed out there will be no difference at all. Indeed, I may end up purchasing the Datacolor Print calibrating product, just to simplify and improve printing, which given the price of ink and paper, should pay for itself many times over. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the Spyder product, and the price is very affordable as well.

For Pros and Prosumers
I've used Datacolor products for years. This is no slouch and completely worth the money. My favorite feature is being able to calibrate all the monitors that I have on the same system to look similar, regardless or make, model, or resolution.

Completely worthless: broken software, terrible results
I have 6 monitors, 5 of them standard wide-gamut LCD and 1 OLED, and this device didn't work on any of them. I spent hours trying to get it to work. When trying to calibrate it would repeatedly crash with a mysterious error message, leaving the profile configured to an extremely incorrect state (e.g. bright green). I had to disable white balance correction to work around that. Even then it produced a different brightness and white balance every time I tried to use it, and it was never correct. It also provided no way to revert the ICC profiles to their original setting after saving it. The multi-monitor features also failed spectacularly, they often would not even render on the correct monitor (they'd place the window across two monitors and partially offscreen), and I wasn't able to complete a multi-monitor calibration even once. On top of that their registration process requires your email address and they provide no means of updating or removing it, which caused us a lot of trouble, we had to email them to request for them to remove it. This device has ruined my life and left me in tears and I sincerely regret ever buying it.

A must have for photographers!
No, you don't want pink faces in your photos. This Spyder monitor calibrator changes the colors you see on your monitor to a standardized format so your prints look natural. It's easy to set up and use, and it's functionality is transparent. Your other programs, like games, won't be affected negatively in brightness or image quality.

Application goes non-responsive on M1 Mac. Lens cap gets snagged on the wire
From all my research online, Datacolor seems to be the standard for monitor calibration. As such, I expected their new "pro" model to be accurate and easy to use. Unfortunately, immediately out of the box I started running into issues.I have a M1 Pro MacBook Pro which is fairly new and runs very smoothly with plenty of free memory and storage, etc. I downloaded and installed the mac software found on the website (QR code inside the box brought me to it). My first calibration went smoothly, however, I found that once the application was left open for a few minutes, it would freeze up and the application would go non-responsive. Even when force quitting the app and relaunching, it will remain unresponsive and will not advance past the loading screen (showing my license code). The only way I was able to resolve the issue is by restarting my computer, however, again within just a few minutes it would go back to freezing. This makes calibration a huge pain and essentially renders the ambient light sensor automatic adjustments useless, as the application would need to be active for this to work. I even tried reinstalling the application to no avail. My other issue was that the lens cap would not slide along the wire (as indicated on their website) to act as a counterweight to the lens. I had to tug hard on the cap until it finally slid along the wire, slicing part of the wire insulation as it moved. Seems like the wire was snagged on the lens cap on the inside of the cap where I couldn't see.In the end, I decided to return it to amazon and will purchase an older non-"pro" version or go with a different brand.

Spyder 2024 Version: Very limited abilities
It was unable to properly calibrate neither of two Dell Precision laptops screens and failed to calibrate external ASUS monitor. Had to return it; maybe it was a faulty unit or maybe it is indeed very limited in its abilities.
