Ingredients enriched long grain parboiled rice (rice, iron, niacin, thiamine mononitrate, folic acid), black beans, yeast extract, salt, onion, malted BARLEY flour, red and green bell pepper, spices (including red pepper), garlic, enriched WHEAT flour (flour, niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), potato, citric acid, extractives of paprika, tamari SOY sauce (SOYbean, salt) & natural flavor. Review: One box makes enough for my wife and I to have each a large portion for dinner and she still has enough left over for lunch. It stores well and neatly, which is important as we live far from a grocery store. $2 for a main course for 2 is really a great deal. I stir fry some onions and occasionally some veggie sausage (we are vegetarians) and sometimes add a can of tomato and it expands it even more and makes it even more flavorful. I suggest adding either an extra cup of water or a can of tomato to it when cooking as it does end up a bit thick if you don't. The one and only negative I can come up with is that it is a bit salty. The more veggies I add, the less salty it tastes, but if you have to watch your sodium that could be something to consider. I will buy this again and again. Review: You can't beat the price on these. But the reality that these are mostly rice with "some" black beans in every box is always disappointing to me. But that is also counterbalanced by the fact the flavor is impeccably delicious so it seals its place in the hall of comfort foods. I want more black beans because the whole dish and the seasoning is so good, but since I can't get that, I'll still have these regularly. Great for a quick week-night dinner.

Nice item to stock up on as the price is only going up and very long shelf life. Great dish whether you add a protein or not. I jazz it up with lots of garlic and lots of heat, but it's awesome straight up too. Takes a while like any rice dish with 25min simmer, but I put it in a 3.3l pressure cooker for under 20min box to plate. 6min prep, mix, boil - 6 min at pressure - 6 min cool down and it's perfect. Only downfall is SODIUM! Lots of Sodium. If you're watching your sodium, better share it with three others. Full box prepared is about your USRDA for sodium.

Hard to find in stores around here. Great flavor of rice. Love to mix in chicken or kielbasa with ti. Go to brand and flavor.

EDIT: Be careful - Amazon seems to be selling these as individual boxes, but at the 12-pack price... The item title doesn't specify how many you get, and in my last order I received two single boxes rather than two 12-packs. Still a good quality product, but I hope Amazon clarifies how many boxes are included! (for reference - the same boxes are usually about $2/ea at my local grocery store, so $18/ea is ridiculous!) These are the same box mixes that I've been buying locally for a while. That's a good thing! We like the flavor, and usually add an extra can of black beans. This works well with some salsa and cheese as a simple but hearty chip dip, and also as a good base for vegetarian tacos/fajitas. If you haven't tried these before, you should be able to try a single box from your local supermarket, so you don't have to risk wasting most of a case if you don't like them. It's very convenient (and usually very economical, depending on price fluctuations) to buy these by the case from Amazon - quick delivery with Subscribe & Save, no problems at all. Recommended!
