Sensyx Rechargeable HVAC Refrigerant Leak Detector, SFD201
It's a good refrigerant, gas leak detector. However you have to turn it on in the same area but not too near to the A/C or stove that you are checking. I used it to check if the evaporator coil of the mini split inside my room is leaking. At first it gave me false positive because I turned it on outside the house, I misunderstood the instruction I thought it needs fresh air outside as the base reading. When I went inside the house it beeped right away and it also has a warm up period of 30 seconds I believe. You can turn off the sound (beeping) if it annoys you. It detects the refrigerant or gas but it won't tell you what kind it is. After that I turn it on in the same room as the evaporator coil and it didn't detected any leaks, I thought it might not be working properly so I breathe into the nozzle and it detected the CO2. So I guess it's working properly. It's rechargeable so you don't have to worry about batteries and it also comes with a case. I only bought it for peace of mind I don't wanna breathe in refrigerant because they're basically poison. Thanks.

Easy to use and works great.
Worked great to help find a leak on my dad's car ac unit. I've used it a few times since for other jobs. Works good.

Works Well for Most Jobs
Detects leaks quickly and is easy to use. Rechargeable battery is convenient, and the sensor is fairly sensitive. A little slower on very small leaks, but overall a solid tool for HVAC work.

Gas tester purchase that didn't stink!
Had a few aggravating leaks in our car's AC system. Tried the usual tricks of finding leaks like using spray bottle with soapy water and others. (Did not use the fluorescent dye because of all the negatives about using this technique.) After googling refrigerant testers and finding dozens of selections, I decided to pick a price range and a four+ star rating. Followed that up by reading the reviews of those testers that fell into my selected rating scale. You can use this tester almost right out of the box. It does come with its own charging cord that you plug into any one of the phone chargers you have laying around. There is a booklet that comes with the tester that gives clear easy to understand directions on its use. I must place a warning some where in this review! Please read and follow through with all safety warnings. Safety glasses are a must. Leather gloves are a must. The refrigerant will freeze your cornea in an instant! The refrigerant will cause frostbite on any exposed skin. Think before you start testing!!! After putting on my safety glasses and leather gloves I turned on the tester and began testing all the connections in the cooling system. At two different locations the tester went crazy indicating the presence of leaks. Fortunately the leaks were occurring at the two connection ports that are used to add refrigerant to the system. I read a suggestion in one of the reviews which stated it would be a good idea purchase the port valve kits that are also available at Amazon. Long story short! After replacing the valve parts and refilling the refrigerant in the cars ac we are driving very cool these days! This tester was well worth the money. If it works as well with the other gases as it did with the ac refrigerant than this tester was a great bargain!

Best thing since sliced freon!
Fantastic! I didn't think these cheap detectors worked well, but took a chance. I have a 4 ton RHEEM air handler with R22. It has a small leak somewhere. After much debate about a new unit costing well over $10k and repair quoted at minimum $600 for 3 potential lbs of refrigerant only to just have it leak back out over time, I decided to attempt a repair myself and keep the tools for a later diy my own system. HVAC cabal is way too expensive for for me..$6k labor for a day of work? Give me a break...and then only to end up with a questionable 454b untested new unit. No thanks. I purchased one of these and a leak sealant i plan to inject to see if it can easily be stopped. I was going to see if I could detect before and after to see if the issue resolved. I aimed the tester at a bottle of R134a that I used for my car. Bang! Squeeze the trigger and the unit maxed its reading..ok...it works, at least somewhat. Next I started going up and down the coil. Like my Geiger counter, it hit on something after a minute...I narrowed it down over the next minute to the exact source..a microscopic hole in the TxV. Out came the Dawn detergent and water...yep..foaming ever so slightly. We have a bingo! Now, when I inject sealant and refill with R22, I'll know where to look. What a piece of kit and only less than $50... Only negative - the led screen has a clear screen protector you're supposed to remove. It was stuck on there so hard that it ripped the plastic lid cover off the LED screen exposing it. Kinda a dumb design. Luckily the hard plastic clear screen cover still had its sticky side and I was able to carefully place it back and it hasn't fallen out ....yet. Engineering - call China and change your screen protector supplier....of all things that could be wrong with this unit, strangely something sooooo simple is its only fault. Would buy again- 100%

Works great!
My husband is a retired master electrician and is certified in HVAC repairs. He has helped to trouble shoot our systems and several friends, family and neighbors with the help of this sensor. It came very fast, was well packaged and worked perfectly. He was able to detect a small leak in a mini split with no problems.

Very reliable md easy to use
It works very well! If you want to test how it works just breathe into the end! It's picks up your exhaled carbon dioxide! Easy to use. Turn it on - wait for the 30 second warm up.... Put the wand where you want to test and see what it finds. I was wanting to see if there was any freon leaks at work because I get headaches often. No leaks ...so I can rule that one out!!!! Great for checking gas grills too!
