Beautiful and Functional
Item arrived on time , perfectly packaged ,I have always wanted one of Kelly Kettles as my friend has one which she has had for a few years now , and it always performs perfectly , it is beautifully constructed , it's light , robust and so efficient , it eats through dry sticks and twigs , small pine cones etc , it always pays to collect more fuel than you think you will need as it burns so efficiently , this is a great piece of quality kit and worth every penny .

easy to use
Boils water a lot faster than the gas equipment we had, easy to use, better to use small bits of kindlingUpdate 2019: 3 years have passed and the Kelly Kettle has been used well, and has seen it’s fair share of weather and being thrown about in my van. Still going strong, fantastic bit of kit, never cleaned the inner fire part and still boils water faster than any camping kit I’ve seen or used. The little hinges joining the grill pieces together did melt away after a few uses but this hasn’t affected their use.Cooking isn’t great on it, about the same as a gas stove, but with the inconvenience of having to load sticks in, isn’t my first choice.Best way to use it is to put the grill into the bottom piece above some firelighters, then wedge in 3 pieces of kindling between the grill above the firelighters, pop the kettle on top and then light it, then I just drop thin bits of kindling into the top down the chute, about 5 pieces of thin kindling (1cm squares, 10cm long) seems to be about right to boil the whole thing. Avoid using paper or cardboard around tents in my opinion, once it gets going any lightweight fuel will get launched!

Great bit of kit
A bit big for backpacking, so if that’s what you want it for go for the trekker. You could use this obviously getting rid of a few things , but I would not.I have a 30l Bergen and it fits in it with loads of room to spare. Ideal addition to the picnic or forest walk. Plenty of stuff on YouTube to look at to help you decide.I love it and would recommend this pack as it works out cheaper, you definitely need the hobos grill as it helps keep wood from falling all over the place when you lift the kettle off the burner base, also you can lob a pan on it and crack on cooking your scoff while everyone else watches with their brew. The quality of the steel is good and I would highly recommend buying one.As I said get the pack as it does work out cheaper also it all packs up well in the inside of the kettle and bag.

Kelly Kettle Set a classic
The whole set arrived well packaged in only a day or two complete with cups pans etc. Iv yet to try it out properly but this should be better long term than my gas camping stove. The "hobo" stove that comes with should burn most things instead of having to carry gas. The Kettle itself works on the "rocket stove" design with the fire burning up through the middle of the kettle so I expect fast efficent boiling of water. There is quite alot of stuff included in the full base camp set and it folds down and stacks into a drawstring bag probably about the size of a modern sleeping bag "stuff bag" so a resionable amount to carry around but theres quite alot of stuff included and a little space left in the bag for a few little things eg teabags flint+steel etc. It's probably going to require some practice to use this efficently Iv bought some magnesium firestarting sticks seperatly so I'll not have to rely on matches or the old fav bic lighter to get my stove started but this'll require some skill n practice to get right. All in Im chuffed for the price of a months worth of camping gas canisters Iv got a stove kettle etc that should last for ages (Id say last a lifetime but I intend to live for quite a while ;-) ).

Excellent bit of kit
It is not cheap.... but does feel like I'll get many years of good service out of the kit. Kettle is so efficient (uses very little wood and it can be really wet once things are burning well) and quick (boils in a few minutes) and the plates/cups etc that came with it are also great quality. This is part of my bug out kit bag, including fire starting stuff, sleeping bag etc in my van for whenever the need takes me.Hopefully worth the initial outlay, I guess time will tell.
