Picnic at Mudsock Meadow

Very imaginative
This was a great book that is wonderfully ridiculous in such a wonderful way and still had me believing every word. I know her books are based on her own life and her families as well. I love every book she's written and this is another favorite now too.

Picnic
I think I might go live with Patricia Polacco. I like her so much. Picnic at Mudsock Meadow is another great favorite of mine - and the kids I read to at school. I purchased Polacco's books with personal money instead of school money - as the library account stayed pretty dismal - when I retired I was reluctant to leave my Polacco books at school but in the end, I did. The kids needed them more than I did and they loved them as much as I did. Her pictures are great. The story is great. She writes from her heart about her life experiences and family stories. These books are just excellent teaching tools and hit the mark in getting kids to read.

Kiddos love the Halloween theme
My 3 year old twins love this book! The illustrations are cute and they are really into the Halloween theme. We talk about how Hester is being mean to William in the book and shouldn't treat him that way but in the end they share a plate of cream together and it's all okay. Love it!

William is a hero for Halloween this year!
Patricia Polacco writes an enchanting, Halloween story about a young boy named William. William and his friends go to Grange Hall Halloween picnic and they all enter into the contests. Towards the end of the contests and the story, William encounters a bright light coming from Quicksand Bottoms, the "ghost", and bravely jumps in the swamp to prove that the light was only swamp gas rising out of the swamp. William's brave act made him the winner of the contest competition as he was covered in glowing muck and mud. This book is a delightful Halloween story that all children and adults can relate too. Patricia Polacco's illustrations were fun and also very creative inviting the readers to continue on reading without ceasing. This story was wonderful because she made it seem a little scary, but not too much that it scares the younger readers. Patricia Polacco is a very talented author and illustrator because she makes the characters come alive in her stories. I believe that anyone from a younger age to older age would enjoy this book and the lesson it brings to the reader.
