Stanley 1-20-437 300mm Bow Saw Blade

Turn your hacksaw into a tree saw. Not used yet but looks like it will do the job.

i used to cut down conifers,could not ask for more.

This blade fits my eclipse 20t hacksaw perfectly. The teeth are a different colour, i assume as a result of the additional hardening. The teeth pattern is also interesting and from initial cuts seem sharp and did the job on a 4" diameter piece of holly but it feels harder work and not as easy as my original blade which has a more conventional teeth pattern (see blade loose inside hacksaw compared to the new one fitted in the hacksaw). I bought the original hacksaw blade for green wood some 40 years ago in a specialist tool store and have been looking for replacement blades for many years ready for when it snaps or becomes too blunt. This was ideal for pruning apple and pine trees. Over the years i have supplemented it with an axe and wolf garten pruning saw but there are times when only a hacksaw is the right tool for the job so it always accompanies the other tools. These blades fit ok and hope they retain their sharpness as well as my original blade if and when i eventually snap it but have refitted the original blade as it does seem to cut more efficiently despite its age!

The blade seems good for dry wood, ironically not so much for green/wet wood as ths kerf isn't as much as is needed so binds in wet wood, a quick tool set on the teeth and cuts nicely though, probably only half the kerf needed that it really does need for good cuts.

This 300mm saw blade is good for through hikers and people who practice bushcraft. It's light, fits easily into a backpack and has so far served me well on a few 3 to 5 day through hikes. I use fallen wood with this saw blade to make a Buck Saw in the field, which takes about 15 minutes to make, and then use the resultant Buck Saw to cut up thicker wood for my camping needs. It does the job splendidly, making me a happy camper.

Bought to use on a very cheap Chinese foldable bucksaw. Works great! Very happy with price vs performance.

Ich habe dieses Ersatzsägeblatt vor etwa einem Jahr gekauft, ursprünglich nur für einen einmaligen Einsatz – um einen Weihnachtsbaum passend zu kürzen. Es hat sich jedoch als sehr scharf und stabil erwiesen. Der Schnitt ist sauber, und die Schärfe hält hervorragend. Außerdem nimmt es deutlich weniger Platz ein als eine komplette Säge. Jetzt habe ich eine Säge und zwei Blätter – eines für Metall und eines für Holz. Sehr praktisch!
