Beautifully made and comfortable.
I was preparing to write a bad review on these VonHaus chairs-the photos don’t do them justice. They make them look insubstantial and cheap. My hopes started to lift when they arrived in a very strong box containing each piece carefully wrapped and protected by the chair frame. Instead of the usual foam each had been wrapped in some type of cloth. VonHaus obviously care.I thought the backs would be plastic, they’re not. They’re rattan beautifully weaved through the traditional bent wood frame. This assembly is then held in place in a metal tube to give the back added strength. The padded seat is firm and comfortable. The polyurethane cover is well fitted and is crease free and smooth. My only complaint about the quality of these chairs is the seat backing. It’s fraying in places and not properly fastened in the corners. It’s possible to slide a finger under it.The chrome frames are well finished without blemishes. And the seats and backs fit perfectly-they took less than five minutes to assemble. In reality these chairs are fantastic. Very well made (apart from the fitting of the seat backing!) and well worth buying. VonHaus compare them to Breuer’s Cesca chair. I’m inclined to agree with them-apart from one small point-the price. A Cesca chair costs over £700.00, one of these VonHaus chairs cost less than one tenth of that.

Poorly manufactured
A nicely designed pair of chairs but poorly manufacturedSome of the holes are out of line and some are completely in the wrong placeSome of bolts are too long and don't fit properlyThe level of the manufacturers quality control is obviously far too low and needs to be betterThe chairs are reasonably comfortable to sit on, however, my concern is how safe are they? The price seems high with regards to the lack of quality

Stylish and comfortable
This pair of dining chairs do require assembly, however it is quite straightforward and the instructions included are easy to follow. During assembly I did notice that one or two of the holes in the tubular steel frame were slightly out of alignment with the back rest and seat pad. This wasn’t bad enough to prevent the chairs being assembled but did make one or two screws harder to tighten than necessary.Once assembled the chairs feel strong and solid and are comfortable to sit on. The PU leather seat bases are firm but have sufficient padding. The rattan comes up to mid back height. They generally look stylish and well made. The combination of different materials work well together and all look to be good quality.I received them free of charge to review as part of the Vine programme and think they represent good value for money.

Excellent pair of cantilever chairs
An excellent pair of flat-packed cantilever chairs.Provided in a 'substantial' cardboard box with heavily reinforced corners and plenty of protective padding material, first impressions are that something from the set of The Mummy has escaped and found its way into the packaging. On closer inspection, no ancient undead monsters are included: the high-finished aluminium / chrome tubing has been carefully wrapped in soft paper bandage-like wrapping to protect it from scratches. Unwinding reveals well-specified, well-machined tubing in a good gauge and very nicely finished. The rattan backs and leather-effect seat are similarly well packaged, in clear plastic padding, and all necessary hex-screws and washers are provided, in duplicate for each chair, with allen keys. Assembly, if you're reasonably used to such things and taking it at a relaxed pace, is a fifteen minute job per chair, perfectly straightforward and the structure ends up very solid. The mid-century modernist aesthetic is lovely, and in use they are very comfortable, with a nice small 'spring' to aid comfort. For the price (£119.99 as of September / October '24) highly recommended.
