SMALLRIG EN-EL15C USB-C Camera Battery for Nikon, 2400mAh 2.5H Fast Charge

Agree with other reviewers that this battery depletes at a slower rate and lasts longer than the nikon battery. The type C cable plug is the best for emergency charging or simply field charging without a charging "box". It is recommended that you cycle the full charge to fully depleted three times to activate the "memory" of the battery to hold a larger charge, so it reads in two of the three battery manuals I have, so I do it. I have no issues with the lights, red charging and green charged, however long it takes, especially when building the memory where it may change in duration. These batteries are a money saver and are good quality, not cheap junk like some out there, and are fully compatible with my Z6III camera.

I saw some unclear reviews as to whether this would work on a Z5II or not, I can confirm it works with the latest firmware and the USB-C charging works great. This is way more handy than having to carry a separate charger or having to plug in your camera to charge a battery. I’m also a sucker for orange and this is a nice satisfying bright orange that’s super easy to find in your camera bag. With the price difference between this and a genuine Nikon battery plus the easy charging outside the camera- this battery should be a no brainer for a backup! So far it seems to last just as long as the genuine Nikon battery as well.

I, like many was hesitant to use aftermarket batteries in my Nikon camera. But, Nikon has teamed up with Smallrig for a few products like cages/handles. The orange batteries work with the Z8, Z6 III, and Zf without issue. One major benefit with these batteries is the USB-C charge port. This means you can charge your OEM battery in the MH-25a and this one with a USB-C charger. The battery life is about the same, even though these are rated at 2400mAh vs 2280mAh in the OEM ones. And best of all, these typically sell for 60% less than the genuine batteries so its a good value.

These are fantastic. They last as long as the Nikon original batteries, but they can charge via a built-in USB C port...which is FANTASTIC! Compatible with my Nikon Z7II, and, apparently all other Nikons that require EN-EL 15c batteries. No error messages. They have an LED which tells you when the battery is finished charging. Also, their bright orange colors make them easy to find in my camera bag. They're half the price of the Nikons, which tells me Nikon batteries are a rip off! Now, these are all I use! Why only 4 stars? I did get a battery that had a bad LED indicator.

One of the two batteries will not charge (or at least the charging indication light is defective) UPDATED --- the company did a good job and has replaced the defective battery with a new one which works well. Nice to deal with responsive customer service!!

I bought the 2-pack of the SMALLRIG Orange Replacement EN-EL15C batteries with the hope they would be decent spare batteries for my Nikon D850 and D750 camera bodies. After all, they market it as compatible, and at half the price of a single OEM Nikon EN-EL15C, it was worth a shot, right? Unfortunately not. While both batteries were charged initially on an OEM Nikon MH-25a wall charger, and they showed fully charged on the charger, they showed only 54% and 50% respectfully when inserted into the cameras (both cameras). Thinking they maybe needed to be cycled, I discharged them and charged them again on the Nikon MH-25a charger. Same results; charger showed as fully charged, but in-camera showed the same 54% and 50% charged respectively. So, I discharged again, and this time, charged them via the included USB cable. This time, after the charging light turned green on the batteries (which is supposed to mean 100%), they showed 54% and 52% charged in-camera. Enough with trying to make these things work. They're being returned. I see that many others have had positive experiences with these SMALLRIG batteries, but my experience has been disappointing and frustrating. Batteries at half the price, but only charge to half the capacity, don't provide any value or net out any advantage than going with the OEM batteries if they can't be relied upon. I've since ordered OEM Nikon batteries, and go figure, they charged fully...and show such in camera as fully charged. I got what I paid for (on both accounts).

Purchased for use in a couple of different Nikon Z cameras (Z6II & Z8). Works fine in both, no problems. The built-in USB-C charging port is a big plus, don't have to drag a camera-specific charger along when traveling, just use the phone charger or similar, or even charging ports in vehicles. Only downside is the LED indicator lights up red (which is fine), but doesn't turn green or go out when the battery is finished charging. Hopefully later batteries for this brand will address this. Haven't done any testing of the OEM vs. the SMALLRIG battery, so can't comment on runtime.

I have a Nikon Z6III and this battery works great. It's significantly cheaper than the OEM battery while still offering the same level of performance. The charge and function is on par with Nikon's and I haven't had any problems with it. My favorite part of this battery is that it can be charged using a standard USB C cable. This means you no longer need to travel with your Nikon battery charger. Using USB C to charge is not only convenient, but it also charges fast. I purchased 3 of these batteries mainly for travel, but I like the performance enough that I use them at home just as much as my Nikon batteries.

Bought 2 USB-C chargeable batteries to keep my Z6 III charged during a long day of shooting. When these ran low I connected them to a Ecoflow River 3 Plus to top them back up via USB-C and this battery worked perfectly for that purpose. I did not notice any battery life issues compared to genuine EN-EL15C, but I did not perform any sort of controlled testing, just used the camera as normal. I bought two different brands because I was worried about compatibility and did not have time to re-order but both worked as expected, including this one.
