Another great coffee table book. I enjoy picking up interesting tidbits of information on the origin of words and expressions as they make for great conversation when friends come over. Recommend.

First time buying a used product on Amazon. it was described as "good condition" and it was positively pristine with hardly a mark or crease on it. Very happy with this. The book is excellent - fun content for those of us who enjoy etymology.

I had read "heavens to Betsy " and "Thereby Hangs the Tale" .... both of which seemed to be easier to read. This book does have a comprehensive index, but I thought it was awkward to get to the origins I wanted to access.

This is a sturdy hardback bound book. It covers word and phrase origins.i purchased my copy as used and it came in almost new condition. I consider this book to be a thumbs up.

Long ago, I purchased volume 1. Then, volume 2. I enjoyed and appreciated them VERY MUCH. This one is compilation of everything! EVERYTHING! It's hardcover, close to 3 inches thick and very heavy. It's too cumbersome to enjoy it in bed (unless I cut it into sections. Ah! There's an idea) if you are looking for something specific, it'll be just fine - like those encyclopedias we used in the old days. I find that I can't read it just for my love of the language, sort of, for fun.

I haven't finished reading this book because it is huge, but it certainly is fun to read.

Doesn't explain word origins in a conversational manner. This is not a coffee table book.

A comprehensive book on old English sayings. Just what I wanted. In good condition and worth the money. Why did it come from America

Didn't care for the contents and didn't give it as a present as I had meant to. Uninteresting.
