Great color, good value
THE DYE: It only lasts one to two weeks for me before I need a touch up but A) this is semi-permanent dye, and B) my hair in particular does not hold any dye for long (box or salon). Because it is non-damaging, it is easy to use for beginners at home. If you miss a spot, you can easily just redye it with no risk of damaging your hair. I have found that with this brand, the longer you leave it in, the longer it will last. I recommend leaving it in for at least an hour. It does stain, however, so make sure you wear something you aren't as fond of and cover all your counter surfaces. THE COLOR: This color is a gorgeous black. I used to have red hair and I dyed over it with this color, and when it fades, it fades to a beautiful dusty purple. I don't know if it's because of the red I had previously dyed it to or what, but it's nice anyways. PRODUCT LASTING: I'm a guy with medium length hair (still short but I have bangs) and the jar lasts me about 3 full head applications, which is about 3-6 weeks of color. For someone with short hair, this is a great value.

All colors great except raven. Notes for newbies considering manic panic
I have gone through a range of manic panic colors: Hot hot pink, forest green, purple haze, virgin white, vampire red, midnight blue, shocking blue, etc. All the colors were great EXCEPT Raven (black). I put it in my hair and sleep with it in and then rinse in the morning. If you do multiple colors, I haven't had issues with bleeding between sections overnight as long as you section/separate well. The problem with RAVEN coloring is the consistency in the color. I have bought 3 different bottles (one from Amazon, two from Sally's Beauty) and have gotten a slightly different tint in the color each time. The first had a slight green tint and the bleached sections of my hair would not turn black (always looked a bit green). Then I got a second bottle that had a slight purple tint -- this one was great and I figured I just got a bad batch with the first one, my hair turned a nice black color. The third bottle (bought from the same Sally's within the same month) and it has a BLUE tint! Seriously... there seems to be an issue with the recipe they use. Other things for NEWBIES using manic panic (I have sections of my natural dark brown hair and bleached sections -- I leave any roots that would show around my face natural so that I don't need to worry about re-bleaching all the time). Manic panic washes out of natural hair pretty quickly (within about 2-4 weeks depending on hair and washing technique), it could leave a very slight tint to your natural color that may never quite go away. On bleached hair in my experience - green and blues stay for a very long time (and some blues I couldn't get out after weeks of trying!). Purple and pink wash out pretty quickly even with bleached hair (2-4 weeks). Manic panic is a STAIN, so it is not permanent. If you have dark brown hair, you are really just tinting it if you don't bleach your hair - so you'll end up with a darker shade of hair (almost black in my case) that shimmers the color of your choice. I've had only blue and pink on hand -- so mix them and you get purple! I've had no trouble with mixing colors of various manic panic dyes to get what I want or to create a gradient in my hair. I have had my hair stain surfaces. I usually wash the fresh dye and 1-2 times after in my aluminum kitchen sink to prevent staining of ceramic surfaces (i.e. my shower) -- if you have a ceramic sink, lay out plastic wrap over the whole sink leaving just the drain uncovered and that has worked well for me (I rent my apt, so obviously I can't risk permanent damage). ALSO, after you brush your hair and you have all this loose hair in your bathroom -- that hair can still stain surfaces! If you have some stray hairs sitting in a puddle by your sink, those wet hairs will leave a mark if they are not cleaned up promptly. Be careful with your loose hairs that they don't sit in a wet shower/sink or puddle on the ground. Sometimes I've been able to remove the marks, sometimes I haven't. Usually only wet hair transfers stains, so if you have a white pillow case and sleep with your hair wet, you will transfer some color to it (or your clothes). Usually in my experience it has washed out unless it was a pretty dark stain. I think only once I have transfer color to my clothing and it was around a turtleneck with freshly dyed hair. If you want the color to last: sulfate-free and dry shampoos are your friends. Also only washing your hair every 3-4 days. This gets kind of gross after a while though, so I have just moved on to dyeing my hair more frequently and using shampoo I like. Also, I will sometimes wash only with conditioner when I want the color to last.

The color would probably work better over darker hair
The color would probably work better over darker hair, my hair was bleached and a light red and it did not come out to a jet black like I expected. I bought this for a temporary cover for my job until I can safely dye or bleach my hair again without causing serious damage. It fades to a dark bluish color (although this could be that i also had some red in my hair that caused it to fade the way it did) But otherwise dying over red hair with this give it a nice shade too! It does stick around for a while after its faded but its been about a month and a half since I've dyed it last and I wash my hair just about every other day and it has completely faded from my hair. YRMV though as I've used manic panic before in other shades and had it last 2-3 months

If you don't want skin on your head to be burned, Use this dye instead of the brands with peroxide,
I have used this black color from Maanic for 4 years and their green color for about 3 years. This dye--unlike the ones sold at CVS and Walgreens dthe skin on your head burned, Use this dye. zot cause Any burning and painful reddening of the skin. It doesn't last as long as the ones from CVS, but it lasts at least a month if not showered much. It's Well worth using instead of the dyes using peroxide.

GETS ON EVERYTHING, NOT THE BEST SEMI DYE (RAVEN)
ive been dying my own hair since 2011.. and manic panic is very hit or miss.. I usually come back because of the cult following and highly regarded reviews(I still don't understand why) the Raven color has to be the worst. I got it to mix in with others.. in small batches it does it's job (for example making an already dark purple... extra dark w a quarter sized amount). I recently dyed my hair a nice indigo blue. I figured since Raven is purple based I can create a nice indigo.. My hair is a beautiful indigo now but I used even parts of this dye and a blue - (a blue from Adoree - brand I never have had issues with..and use often)- the only thing is I KNOW its the Raven color that bleeds everywhere. It stains the tub, stains clothes (with only sweat), there's a weird filmy thing going on in my hair that even when I touch my DRY hair.. dye comes off...been shampooing my hair for almost a week now and it's still doing this.. This isn't the first time I've experienced something like this with Manic Panic (I believe vamp red does this too).. the only worthwhile dyes from manic panic is the 40 series.. otherwise most of the line is mediocre and over priced for what you get. Better/cheaper AND vegan brands out there. YES , SEMI COLORS TEND TO BLEED IN THE SHOWER!! HOWEVER, NOT TO THE EXTENT IM EXPERIENCING. Bleaching ur bath everytime, dry hair staining etc , IS NOT NORMAL. I shouldve never abandoned black velvet from adore.

Paid for this as it said it would turn virgin dark blonde / light brown hair black. Turned some dark brown but the rest a greeny golden brown. Did however turn my bathroom black. And my body a deep shade of purple. Left blue marks on my pillow case over night!

I tried it twice but the color didn’t stick. It stayed on the hands after washing the hair instead. Plus the shade came to be slightly greenish hue.

ive used this brand and colour twice, the first time was in 2022 and second time being this year, im not sure if its because i have bleached hair but the colour does NOT stick at all, it faded out after the first wash and just gradually faded to a horrible greeny bluey colour, 2022 when i used it i was having to redye it every week because it just kept fading, i decided to try them again this year giving them the benefit of the doubt because i got told that the colour was fading because i was just throwing it onto my hair without an under colour, so the second time i used it was put ontop of a red colour and like in 2022 it just faded with every wash, i wouldnt even recommend anyone using it as just a temporary colour because its left parts of my hair looking green and im having to bleach it again :') i would honestly avoid and look into another brand because this is just not it....
