IT WORKS GREAT!
What a fantastic product and cudos to the person who thought this up. The BATMATE makes working the wheel so much quicker and easier. Just put bats on, bats off, no pins, just suction. The batmate is easy too clean and store. IT'S GREAT!!!

Works!
This has been one of the best pottery tool investments. I don't bother with the bat pin holes. I just soak it, ring it out, then lay on the wheel head. All bats types are held remarkably well - MDF, Plywood, Plaster, and Plastic. When ready, the rim of the pot can lay directly on the batmatte for trimming. If there is a failure, the pot doesn't go flying off the bat, or wheel head.

great product to help with jittery bats
I use this yellow 14-inch Xiem BatMate on the Soldner wheel and the blue 12-inch Xiem BatMate on a Brent wheel. The material most closely resembles that of a swimmer's chamois towel. This product has saved me quite a bit of frustration and time. When my bat holes get a bit enlarged they wobble on the wheel head. Now I don't have to put wet clay slop beneath then to hold them in to the wheel head. This Xiem BatMate saves my clean up time. AND it works; my bats don't jitter.

So useful
I use this bat to trim, with some moisture I’m actually easily able to trim my pottery on top of this bat. It stays in place pretty well and seems to be pretty durable despite how light and thin it appears to be.

Indispensable- Batmate
Someone loaned me theirs in a pottery workshop when they saw me struggling with a wobbly bat. I immediately bought one for myself and couldn’t be more pleased. Every potter should have one, especially when working in a studio that has bats that have been used for sometime. They eliminate wobble and allow you to pull up the clay effortlessly. I highly recommend this!!

Durable, reusable mat the secures bats w/o pins
The BatMate did a good job of holding the plastic bat to the wheel head without pins.

Warped
I used the bed one time. Through a plate. In the process of drying the bat worked. It absorbs water. It’s a stupid design.

Changed my trimming game
I hate trimming because I always end up warping my rims by trying to adhere my pot to the wheel with lumps of clay. The bat mate has completely changed my trimming process and made it so much more pleasant! I haven’t tried this with a bat yet, but it’s already well worth it just for trimming
