Absolute WildC.A.T.S. Hardcover – March 13, 2018

This is an incredible collection of Jim Lee's Image series Wildcats. This captures his initial run on the series, as well as a great X-Men/Wildcats crossover. Seriously its a really cool crossover. It even includes a number of issues of Marc Silvestri's underrated Cyberforce series that crossed over with Wildcats. The book is huge in size, the production quality is amazing, and it includes a ton of sketches, art, posters, etc. DC clearly put this out with a focus on celebrating Jim, Marc and Scott Williams' art. If you love Image comics, Jim Lee and/or early 90s comics then this is a must buy.Wildcats is one of the top teams created in comic book history in my opinion. You can see the obvious X-men influence on them (and any team created at this time). The stories are fun, exciting and manage to have character development at the same time. This is back when comic art was good, the guns were big, the good guys were good and the bad guys were bad, and the men had muscles and the women had big busts.Jim Lee and Scott Williams were just coming off a historic run on X-Men and Uncanny X-men at this time when they left to start Image comics and Wildcats. This is the height of Jim Lee's artistic talents in my opinion (along with his X-Men work). And this book captures it all. Throw in three issues of Cyberforce drawn by Marc Silvestri (also at the height of his talents, coming off a historic run on Wolverine) and you can't go wrong here. There are also a few issues of Wildcats written by the legendary Chris Claremont.This collection was clearly put together to celebrate the artistic talents involved here and it does not disappoint. The production quality matches the heights of the art. There are more splash pages and posters than you can count. On top of all this, these are just some darn good comic books. If you are any sort of comic fan then I recommend you get this. If you are a Jim Lee, Image or early 90s fan then you should absolutely be buying this right now. Long live Image comics. Long live the 90s.

The Absolute books were initially intended to show off artwork above all else, so this more than fits the bill. Even though they are only a few pages of content, the couple of gatefold pages from the Killer Instinct storyline are worth the price of admission alone. The writing is fine, but nothing particularly special unless you're nostalgic for this time period in comics. And honestly, that's who this book is aiming for anyway. Having the Cyberforce and WildCATs/X-Men issues thrown in were a real treat (particularly that underrated X-Men crossover... a hardcover of that entire mini-series would be great).The earlier issues look to be completely recolored, but thankfully that served to enhance rather than ruin the artwork. The art gallery and bonus scripts are great, but the sequential is really the treat here.

This is Jim Lee during his glory days. There was something very magical about this time when Image comics came out and became a behemoth, and the days prior to it when Jim was drawing his own X-Men series.I am so glad this Wildcats (WC) edition was released not just in trade paperback, not just in hardcover format, but in the Absolute edition no less. I couldn’t have asked for more except give me more of Jim’s artwork any day. I always have fond memories of Wildcats and regret losing my single issues that I had collected as a kid (which are in mint condition by the way).I prefer his style during the WC original run, and one can see his style change towards the last 3 issues of the book to the style he currently draws in. Artists evolve over time and hone their technique where it is easier for them. Less effort and intensity in the details is where he is at now. On the plus side, there is also three issues of CyberForce as well during the crossover with Ripclaw. OMG!I love Marc Silvestri just as much as Jim. Wish there was a Cyberforce Absolute edition out right about now. There is also an issue drawn by Travis Charist. His art style transformed over time and it grew on me. I became such a huge fan, but he just couldn’t keep up with a monthly schedule on WC. I love seeing what these guys are up to these days and they are the only ones that make me keep coming back to get more.All I need now is my Gen 13 Absolute Edition. Maybe Divine Right and other stuff too!Now, with all these verified purchases, why hasn’t anyone been nice enough to post pics?

Loving every moment of this book. I fell in love with wildcats and comics in general during the 90's and early 2000"s. This book takes me back to a time of great stories and artistry. Great for readers new and long term

This was Jim Lee's first work after leaving Marvel's "X-Men" with an incredible run. The wow factor for WildCATS has faded quickly over the years (though it was briefly rekindled for me when Travis Charest did the art on its third - or fourth? - restart several years later), with much of Image's early titles selling very cheaply these days in used comic shops. However, this collection brought back a lot of the inital admiration I had for the love and energy that Jim put into the detail of his art. Sure, the stories weren't the greatest for a company just starting, but I bought this one for the art and this Absolute edition delivers quite nicely. No complaints, just a happy customer.

I love Jim Lee's work and always will and this Absolute Wildcats is a great edition for those that missed out on the original comic release back in the early 90s. It's been a while since I've read the first printing of the comics, but in Wildcats #1: A Halo Round the World with Grant Morrison as the writer, there was a "sex" scene that was uncensored. In this Absolute Wildcats, it's censored. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If you're a fan of Jim Lee or Wild Cats in general, this is a great buy. His whole run on Wild Cats, the Xmen Crossover and even some newer modern Wild Cats. Plus scripts and concept art in the back. 10/10 recommend!
