This is a nice book but I was very disappointed when it arrived as it is slimmer than I expected and not good value for money.

Essential book for schoolchildren in the age of Climate Emergency and Extinction Rebellion
I am passionate about trees and I plant trees from all over the world in my arboretum of 50 acres. I also collect books about trees and came across this little jewel. I have been looking for a book that could help me instill the love of trees in my two granddaughters. My oldest grandchild is 8 years old and she has just got the right age for this book. The combination of illustrations and photographs works beautifully to paint a comprehensive picture of the life of trees and their huge importance for ecology and the planet. Climate Emergency and Extinction Rebellion are two expressions that have made a big impact this year. If there is any book that could awaken interest in trees in our children and grandchildren it must be "I Love This Tree". Warmly recommended and great value for money!

Beatiful presentation
This book is full of beautiful pictures and interesting information about the lifecycle and science of trees and their ecology and habitats. It is written in quite a chatty tone which makes it an accessible read. There is a helpful glossary at the end as well as an index. Recommended for introducing primary age children to reading about science.

Beautifully illustrated and written this is a divine child's read aloud and read together book which brings in all the seasons and wildlife in those seasons- you can pop back to any chapter for a short read and start again. Really lovely and will be enjoyed for years.

Good interesting educational.
CAnnot say yet, they're all for grandchildren gifts. They seem really good educational books that all children should be reading..

I love this book
This is a fantastic source of information about trees for Primary school age and for the start of Secondary. Each page is packed with information, illustrations and photos, with the starting point being a chestnut tree near to the author's house. Her tree is linked to trees around the world, the life cycle, anatomy and the animals that live on and depend on trees. Everything tree is examined and the whole thing is written in a clear and engaging way.My child could relate to this book as Chestnut trees are the accompaniment to our school walk through the seasons, and we were enjoyed reading it together and discovering more about what seems, at first, to be a simple subject. The hardback format works well here - this is a lovely book for home or school. Highly recommended.

An excellent book of discovery
Ages 3 +This is a glorious book. It is beautifully illustrated and clearly presented. It tells you everything you need to know about trees - life cycle, history, types of seeds, practical use and lots more. In between serving facts in a palatable and accessible way, it poses questions. Some it answers. Some it doesn’t, prompting the reader to further research.Who is it for? I think I would characterise this as a family book. It lends itself to discussion and sharing of knowledge. I think, with a parent reading, its language and content would be accessible to a bright three year old. You could use it to make walks voyages of discovery. By the age of seven a child should be able to read it independently, although, as I said before, I think it would be more fun to read it with other people. It not only gives a child lots of information about trees, it also stimulates interest in finding out about other topics. For example:• The time line of history – what has happened during the life of the tree at the end of my garden?• What creatures live in trees?• What can a tree's rings tell us?• Why is it dangerous to clear away too many trees? Where is this happening?• Why don’t we eat trees? And many, many more.It is very well written – accessible, bung full of information but neither patronising nor didactic. An excellent book.
