Burt's Bees Beeswax Moisturizing Day Creme, 2 Ounces

Burt must be rolling over in his grave! I used this for years and it was perfect. Now BB has discontinued this product, thus the gouge on price here, which is why I only gave 4 stars. I purchased this for $13.49 last year; now it's $49.95!!! I called the BB company and they tried to convert me to their new chemical laden Intense Hydration day lotion. You can keep your sodium benzoate, phenoxyethanol, amyl cinnamal, and other nasties that are in that lotion to yourself! I tried many other concoctions of beeswax cremes from Etsy and Badger, which is a company I loved BTW for their sunscreen, but they were all too oily and I started to break out a bit. I think (fingers crossed) I have found a replacement: Mountain Rose Skin Creme. I got the Unscented. I hope it stands the test of time. [...]

Definitely not for already oily skin. I found that throughout the day, my nose would be shining like Rudolph's minus the red glow. But for the most part my skin's dry, so I just eased up on the amount I'd put on my nose, so it was all good on that front.I've found that much of my acne-proneness is due to dry skin, so this has pretty much fixed that for me. I was a tad bit suspicious of the small, not even full palm sized jar, but I've come to realize with Burt's Bees, less is so much more. You do have to work out just how much you need (which has never been more than 2 fingertips full, neck and face,) but after you do you may cavalier about the town with moisturized, healthy looking, (though sometimes somewhat oil) skin.Think of it as a mush lighter version of the Night Creme.

The moisturizer did what it is supposed to do. I purchased in Oct. and shelved it in May and opened it today to find mold.I often kept the lotion in my backpack with supplies or in a cool corner on a counter. But I do think that while in my backpack, excess from supplies got close-you can see on the outer rim- and that caused bacteria growth (even though nothing ever got in the lotion).Then again there are a number of things that can cause this, so if anyone does intend to purchase:Be aware of where you place itBe aware this is made of natural ingredientsBacterial growth can occur (if anything gets into this lotion and isn't cleaned out properly/ wash your hands before use)Close the lid as tightly as you can if placing in a purse or handbagPreservatives

I was a dedicated follower and consumer for many years. I was incredulous and angry when they chose to discontinue this item. I wrote them saying so and received a rather nasty note telling me that I could switch to the newer Clorox formulations. I was pleased to buy one last bottle at jacked up prices, but it became moldy and I had to throw it away.Now here's the good part. I hunted and searched for a replacement moisturizer and eventually I found one made by Alba Botanicals that is actually lighter, also contains a mild sunblock and is less than half the price when ordered online. I like it so much I'm starting to wear the same label Night Cream. So, thanks Burt's Bees!

The texture of this product is very waxy which is something I was not expecting but it still feels reasonably good when I spread it on my face however I could not give it a higher rating because the fragrance is extremely strong to the point of being unpleasant. If I bought this at the drugstore I would try to return it. I don't think it's worth me returning it when I have to pay shipping so I'll try to use it up on my legs.

This creme is a great moisturizer, but for me the fragrance is slightly overwhelming. Used sparingly, it is not quite so strong. I would give this 5 stars if it were fragrance-free.

I absolutely LOVE this stuff - it's a very rich, thick white cream and it sorted out the dry patches on my 'winter weather cheeks' overnight. One think I do not like, however, is the smell. The scent is sort of musty, old and reminiscent of old ladies perfumes. The smell almost put me off using it, but given how it totally eliminated the dry skin on my face overnight, is gentle (no ruddy red cheeks after applying) and quickly absorbs into my skin, I have to overlook the scent, which my husband actually likes - so maybe that's just me!

I ordered 2 jars. One jar the lid was unscrewed and the product was a bit dried out. The lotion had actually pulled away from the side of the container. Rather disappointing.
