Dr. Barbara Sturm, Hyaluronic Serum, 30ml

This Hyaluronic Serum from Dr. Barbara Sturm was one of the skincare products I was most excited to try. From everything I had read beforehand, it seemed to have an incredibly loyal following and a reputation for delivering noticeable results. Every review, article, and recommendation I came across praised its performance, so naturally my expectations became quite high. Fortunately, I didn’t have to wait long after placing my order before it arrived. The best way I can describe this serum is pure hydration in a bottle. It has an incredibly lightweight texture that feels almost like a gel, yet it absorbs quickly without leaving behind any stickiness or heaviness. Hyaluronic acid is well known for its ability to attract and retain moisture, making it one of the most popular hydrating ingredients in skincare. I use this serum immediately after cleansing and before applying my moisturizer and eye cream. Once it has absorbed, which only takes a minute or two, I continue with the rest of my routine. One of the things I appreciate most about this serum is how easy it is to incorporate into any skincare regimen. It can be used morning and night, alongside products from other brands, and it layers well with additional serums if desired. As with most skincare products, I find it works best when applied from the lightest texture to the heaviest. Although it pairs beautifully with other products, it is also highly effective on its own as a concentrated hydration treatment. I have been using several products from Dr. Barbara Sturm recently, and so far this has become one of my favorites. The timing of this serum’s arrival could not have been better. Over the past year my skin has become noticeably drier than it once was, particularly during the colder months. When applying the serum, I gently press it into my face, neck, and décolletage. It absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling immediately more comfortable. There is no added fragrance, and the formula feels exceptionally gentle on my skin. After application, my complexion looks noticeably more hydrated and refreshed. My skin appears smoother, feels softer, and has a healthier, more plumped appearance. I have also noticed that the skincare products I apply afterward seem to spread more evenly and perform better. Of all the products in this collection, this is one of the more expensive offerings. If budget were not a consideration, it is a product I would happily keep stocked at all times. For anyone who is comfortable investing in premium skincare, however, I can absolutely understand why this serum has developed such a devoted following. It feels luxurious to use, delivers impressive hydration, and addresses a concern that nearly everyone experiences at some point. Regardless of age or skin type, maintaining healthy hydration is important, and this serum does an excellent job of supporting that goal. It has been one of the standout products from the brand for me, and I would highly recommend it.

I do love it and have used many times although I think there are quite a few less expensive Hyaluronic substitute options out there, including snail mucin, which is quite cheap compared. I purchase it as a luxury because I love the brand, have many other Strum products and I can afford it. If you are on a budget, though, I recommend the snail mucin instead.

I’ll fully admit this serum entered my life because I hit that point where my skincare routine started turning into less of a “fun little self-care hobby” and more of a strategic anti-aging operation. Somewhere between turning 40 and staring at my face in a magnifying mirror under bathroom lighting designed by demons, I realized dehydration lines are very real. I’ve tried a lot of hyaluronic acid serums over the years, from drugstore staples to luxury skincare that comes packaged like it belongs in a museum display case. Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Hyaluronic Serum honestly sits in that rare category where I understood the hype within the first few uses. The texture is one of the first things that stood out to me. It’s lightweight but not watery in that “did I even apply anything?” kind of way. It has this silky, cushiony feel that spreads easily across the skin and absorbs fast without turning sticky or pilling under moisturizer or makeup. My skin just drinks it up. I started using it mostly at night after cleansing, but it quickly became one of those products I kept reaching for during the day too, especially when my skin looked tired or dehydrated after editing videos for way too many hours in front of a monitor. The immediate effect for me was hydration and softness. My skin looked calmer, smoother, and noticeably more plump by morning. Not in a filler-looking way, just healthy and rested. The kind of skin where you catch your reflection unexpectedly and think, “Okay… we’re having a good face day.” After a couple of weeks, I also noticed those little dehydration lines around my forehead and mouth looked softer and less obvious. One thing I really appreciate is that it doesn’t feel aggressive. Some anti-aging products feel like they’re trying to win a fight against your face. This feels more supportive than corrective, if that makes sense. My skin can lean sensitive at times, especially when I rotate stronger actives into my routine, and this layered beautifully without irritation. The bottle itself also feels very elegant in that understated luxury skincare way. Clean, minimal, solid in the hand, and the dropper dispenses the right amount easily without making a mess all over the counter. Since you only need a dropper or so per use, the 1 oz size lasted me longer than I expected. Now, is this the kind of serum you buy because you want the cheapest hyaluronic acid possible? Probably not. But if you’re someone who genuinely enjoys skincare, appreciates refined formulas, and wants hydration that actually makes your skin look healthier instead of just temporarily damp, I can absolutely understand why this product has the reputation it does. At this point, Dr. Barbara Sturm is becoming one of those brands where every time I try something new, I end up immediately curious about what else they make. My skincare shelf is starting to look less like a bathroom counter and more like a tiny luxury apothecary, and honestly… I’m not mad about it.

This is the most expensive skin care item I’ve ever used, and I was going to be super judgy when I had the chance to use it! Unfortunately my 60-ish skin really liked it, even though I told it not to get used to it! The best i usually get is target brands so this was a treat. And seriously? The difference is real. Lower price products seem to add fragrance and fillers, citing different buzzword additives. Instead this is just super simple. It’s plain. Unscented. No dramatic bottle or packaging. It’s expensively and elegantly minimalist! How does it work beyond the appearance of the package? Sadly, really good. Sadly for my wallet. It’s just that good. A clear thin liquid in a dropper that I applied at night on my face on cleansed skin, it didn’t cause irritation. It didn’t burn like retinol. No sting. I put my night cream on top and it absorbed beautifully. The next day I’m like, hmmm. I’m imagining it. Kept using. Repeat. Still wondering. But still. No irritation. And still, each day wondering why my face looks plumper (in a good way) and my color looked fresher. It really seemed to help around my eyes and also the weird bumps that are kind of like little milia around my nose.Besides the plumping, it evened out my skin tone. Because you apply with a dropper, this conceivably can last a very long time. The main ingredient is hyaluronic acid and that’s how it works. Sturm is a big name in skincare and unfortunately the packaging doesn’t say much about ingredients, it just says made in Germany. I did research on her and she’s mega famous and her skin care is idolized worldwide but given that, I wish there was more information on the box! In all a solid five stars but I wish the box had more details on how to use with other products.

Step 2 is where this product fits, as a Hyaluronic Serum for hydration support. Step 3 moves into a moisturization routine with a facial cream. Step 4 involves Glow Drops for radiance boost and Night Repair as a night serum. While the entire skincare routine line is quite expensive, the results speak for themselves. This is an investment in your own beauty and making the most of your biological age. Back to this product, it is a Hyaluronic Serum. You can use it in the morning or night, and it is intended to hydrate, firm and improve elasticity. The ingredients that promote these benefits are long chain HA molecules, small and medium chain HA molecules and biofermented purslane. The purslane is a powerful anti-aging ingredient. It's value is derived from calming inflammation, delivering hydration, and protecting the skin from environmental stress. So this formula activates the skin's three key youth factors, which are HA, Collagen and Elastin. To use it, you just apply a few drops to the face, eye area and neck area. Pat in and allow it to absorb. You can them move to Step 3, which is the face cream. Overall, this is a foundational formula for a healthy skincare routine. It works exceptionally well and I had no adverse reactions. I have purchased other Sturm products, and I'm excited to start using the whole spectrum of molecular cosmetics from Dr. Barbara Sturm.
