Q: How often do you add this to your aquarium? And Do you recommend after a water change

I use 2 pumps per week in the 10 gals. shrimp aquarium, prior to the plants establishing a root system I used 3 pumps per week. In the 55 gals. aquarium I use 8 t0 9 pumps per week, due to it being established for over 23 years. I do not use ThriveS after each water change unless my fertilizing schedule happens on the same day as the water change. My Java ferns love this. But Java ferns are very easy to bruise if you are mucking about in the tank and they don't heal they just grow new.

Q: Do I sill need organic carbon

Yes you still should use carbon but I would not use it continuously . Use on occasion when water get discolored. Take out after water clears.
