Ok but buyer be ware
Love the product but hate the selling of cloud space. Sure you buy the product but then bam they want to charge you for scanning to a cloud. If you don't pay you can only scan 5 items a month😮☹️😣😕

I wanted to like this scanner
I wanted to like this scanner. And honestly, the scanner itself is well made and does a good job. However, the software that comes from the Neat company is not good enough.First it is very slow on my 2015 Macbook Pro (2.8Ghz and 16G RAM). Opening folders with ~500 items in it takes it over 4 minutes. I understand this for the very first time I may open the folder after a new install -- it has to download the content from the cloud account -- but it does this every time I've opened that folder.Second, it got stuck uploading and I'm not sure it ever finished my last ~70 receipts. I could see the items in the upload queue, and I could see that there was one that appeared to be the one it was working on, but I couldn't change it. Nothing on their support site about this problem. No response to my request for support. After trying several things on my own eventually the queue "cleared" but I don't know if those items made it in (I was not keeping good track of how many I should have had at that point).Then, when I decided I had enough content (and with tax day looming), I tried to get reports or the data out (CSV, XLS, etc). This shows a major failing in the software. It simply freezes, eventually going blank (within a few minutes), and never recovering. I've restarted it several times and it does the same thing each time. I uninstalled/reinstalled (after verifying my content on the cloud), and it still locks up on trying to export to any file type. I've had to "force kill" the app when it does this.Finally, and most damaging, is that the company has not responded to my support requests. The site is hard to use -- you login, you see your content, you pull down to request support, and it asks you to login again. You want to go back to your content -- login again. So I open a case anyway, and I get an automated note about "we try to respond within 72 hours". So four days later I send a request (replying to the email). No response. I open a "Customer Service" request instead of "Support" request. Another automated email. Several days later and still no response from the company. When I login to their site I can't see either request under my account.Based solely on my experience with the software and the company behind that software I can't recommend this product.

I'm pleased with the purchase
Neat does the job it's makers claim. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase. It is helpful that, most of the time, Neat captures the essentials accurately. However, one cannot assume that every scan will be totally accurate. Also in a few instantances, I have wished the software provided additional features/options (e.g., recognition of tips included on restaurant receipts).Additionally, I've found that the scanner's "roller" is easily soiled. Only one each of wet- and dry-cleaning papers are included. You can order additional wet-cleaning papers on Neat's Web site, but I was unable to find the dry-cleaning papers available. Yet even with its limitations, Neat is the easiest way I've found to keep track of the large number of receipts I collect each month. And that not only allows me to keep tax related receipts orderly, but also to more easily verify charges that appear on my credit card bills.

The device itself works fine. It really should be for the business traveller on the road. It's slow so if you want it to be quicker then buy the desktop model.

Apparently Not Compatible with Apple AirPort Express Wireless
Connects fine to a Windows/Cisco network at home, but will not connect to an OSX/Apple AirPort Express network at work where it was intended for use. Contacted Neat support and they weren't very helpful. They insisted I connect the scanner to my mobile hotspot instead of the existing wireless network. I'm sorry, but that's just an unacceptable long-term solution. Replaced with a Brother scanner that's half the price. I gave 2 stars because it works with Windows.

I use this all the time. Does a good job. The new ones and programs run significantly slower than the 1st generations. I like the 1st generation one the best. "Improved" program features slow the process down unfortunately. Typical upgrading mentality of programming advancements vs functionality ... Still the best system available.

OCR doesn't read numbers correctly and becomes a tedious, time-consuming process of error correction.
Functionally the main problem with this scanner is that it doesn't have a very good OCR implementation. Numbers almost always scan incorrectly which makes this process manual and defeats the whole purpose of having a scanner with software like this. I invested some time into it and just found that I wasn't saving any time at all.

Rotten customer service at nest works
I returned the brat receipts. Waiting for refund.I had another neat receipts for 9 years and it gave up. I ordered a new one and it would not work. AND NO SUPPORT!!!Nest Reception company are the pits. AMAZON? So far , ok. IF I GET MY MONEY BACK, they will be great!!!!
