It works well
The kit was not difficult to assemble and it worked well. I made a couple of issues for myself but nothing that couldn't be fixed. I live in a hilly area and I use my bike for basic transportation so My main goal was to be able to climb these hills like they weren't there. The bottom line is that it does that and there are no issues. Reading the listing material I understood it to say that the individual gears were "adjustable" but they are not. You may select between them but there are no "adjustments" you can make. Also I picked the EKD01 display because it was blue tooth and so I figured I could use the Bafang go app. Unfortunately the only thing it would connect to is Varstom's app and it only offered maps and directions but collected and stored no info about the trip the bike or the rider and when you turn it off it forgets what was on the display. So for me the Bluetooth connectivity was useless and disappointing. Also I anticipated being able to get battery information beyond the voltage but again I am told that simply isn't posable with what I have, I got the 13AH battery. so no battery info from the bike. Also I had issues with the display from day one, beyond my disappointment It was unstable and it ultimately wouldn't turn on so it went back and they did replace it. There was customer support and they did communicate with me and like I said they did replace the display for me. All in all it works solidly and the kit seemed to be put together well. There have been some disappointments but some of that may have been my own misunderstandings, maybe.

Works Great, but a massive pain to install. Almost nothing was compatible with my bike.
So now that I have the final product installed and working, I can say that the product works great and performs as expected, but the installation process was a massive undertaking that I wouldn't recommend for the average person. I had to buy an extra $150 worth of parts to get it to fit. Took several trips to the local bike lab coop to seek advice, and I definitely a learned a lot about bike wrench-turning in the process, but I can't imagine most people would go through this type of effort to get it installed. I wish I had just bought a fresh ebike instead of doing my own.The included instructions are useless. I had to watch several youtube videos to learn how to complete the installation, and even those were spotty at best.Installation requires specialized tools that only an advanced bike enthusiast would likely have, including a chain whip, sprocket removal tool, bottom bracket removal tool, and cassette removal tool. they're only about $7 each ($30 total), but something to keep in mind if you plan on tackling this yourself. Additionally, I had to file/drill/modify several components to make them compatible with my frame, since many parts were a few mm off-centered once installed. My 160mm disc brake was not compatible with the kit. I had to downsize to a 140mm disc brake, resulting in me buying new disc, calipers, and caliper mount (~$50). Also loosing a small bit of brake performance from downgrading to a smaller size.My existing spindle was not compatible with the kit. I didn't have an extra 5mm on the existing spindle width to mount the PAS sensor on, so I had to purchase a new spindle (~$15)My existing cranks were star-bolt, and this kit is ONLY compatible with square bolt cranks, so I had to purchase a new set of cranks to be compatible with the kit (~$30).My existing frame did not have enough space in the triangle to mount the battery. It fits, but also requires an additional 3 inches of clearance to slide forward/backwards on the mounting bracket. I purchased the extra mounting bar, but it did nothing to help. The offered cargo rack also isn't compatible with most mountain bikes. I ended up purchasing a separate seat post cargo tray to hold the battery (~$40)The included gaskets were not appropriately sized for my handlebar, so I used a few old rags to add diameter and get the screen to mount. The kit is advertised as fitting 135mm forks, but the hub itself is 138mm, requiring me to use an angle grinder and mill-out 1.5mm from each side of the fork. This is not ideal, and also not entirely safe. fortunately, the part I milled is not load-bearing, so shouldn't be an issue. I reached out to customer support, and they recommended bending the frame 3mm to sit the hub. This worked, but ultimately caused all the other components to be 3mm off, requiring further frame modification. There is an impressive amount of wire length in the kit, in fact, too much to fit in the enclosed housing. I had to ziptie several of the cables to the frame to keep them tidy. All the screws included in the kit are garbage and will instantly strip. I had to run to home-depot and replace most of the included fasteners with American-made equivalentsPros:- great power and performance- smooth ride- comes with everything you need (sort of)- My 500W motor is enough to get me to 25mph on flat surface, full charge- parts are internally compatible with each other- headlight and throttle are a great addition- I love the LCD screed I upgraded to (SW2M58)Cons:- very difficult install- required replacing several components on my bike, adding about $150 to total cost- included instructions are worthless. I had to self-teach myself how to install- The kit advertises it's compatible with 135mm rear fork, but the hub is actually 138mm.- The battery has noticeable performance deficiency at around 40% charge, my max speed drops about 1mph for every 10% below 40%.- The battery capacity indicator is fairly inaccurate. it has about 20% charge inconsistency between heavy use and light use. At 0% charge I can still go another 20ish minutes. If I switch to PAS level 3, it instantly drops 20%.In retrospect, I wish I had just bought a new ebike instead of trying to convert my old bike. Since I had to replace several parts on my old bike and purchase new tools, I only saved ~$200 total by doing my own conversion, and that's not worth the time, effort, and frustration needed to troubleshoot and wrench-turn this kit.
