LIMITED EDITION: A free-spirited young hitchhiker befriends a middle-aged man in this lighthearted charmer. Sissy Spacek, in between her star turns in Badlands and Carrie, plays the title role, and is joined by such stars as Monte Markham, Mark Miller, and Fred Ward. The movie has a great early seventies feel, and may make you yearn for the days when picking up hitchhikers was an everyday thing! New scan in 4K from the original camera negative.

A classic for Spacek fans.
In late 1972, possibly just before she started filming Badlands (1973), Sissy Spacek starred in a movie set in Santa Fe, New Mexico as a hitchhiking hippie on a homeward trek to her dad in Colorado Springs. It really is a sweet little popcorn B-movie.

A young Sissy Spacek, wow, really worth watching!
Probably the best "bad movie" I've seen recently. It's a flawed copy with cutting and splicing mistakes, and a very fuzzy digital copy of the original film. Gotta figure it was digitized maybe from a VHS tape. But, Whoaa, wait a minute. Who cares. I had no idea what an absolutely irresistible young gal Sissy Spacek was. She's 25 in this movie (2 years before she made Carrie) but she looks 18. And, she acts both as naive and wise as any 18 year old who is at the same time both vulnerable yet energetically ready to take on the world. Story isn't bad... well, it ain't that good either, Full of 70's hippie cliches about "peace and love," but for a 71 yr old ex-hippie like me, I say again, "Who cares." Just watching a "fresh off the farm" young Sissy Spacek was well worth an hour and a half of my time. She also -plays the guitar and writes and sings her own songs.

Don’t bother unless you’re a Sissy fan
This isn’t an ultra low budget movie. Some of the reviews on here call it a B movie. No it’s worse than that. This looks like they rented an apartment somewhere and shot most of the movie in it.Except for sissy, who even at this stage was a very good actress, the acting is horrible. And it’s not just because the script is so weak.Yes, the film is severely dated. The print is, as they say, turning red. That really means the blue dyes are fading so the yellow and red remain. The audio track isn’t bad. This doesn’t even look like it could’ve made it is a TV movie back in the early 70s. It’s more like a really crummy drive-in movie. If you live back then you know these were really cheap films. Sometimes one or two films would run in an evening and they’d be floating around out there for a few years all over the country. Just really cheap lousy films. People went to the drive-in because the prices were low. The popcorn and the food was terrible. But it was part of the culture.Marty Markham was never a good actor in my estimation. This movie could be a tribute to how horrible an actor this guy was. And the actor playing the part of his buddy is just as bad. These guys must’ve gone to school to learn how to over act!By the way this is one of those movies that just kills a lot of time with needless goings-on that make no sense. And then at the end this happens and that happens that just sort of resolve everything. It makes no sense that these people should act the way they do.These actors must’ve got this job over the summer for two or three weeks somewhere in Arizona or who knows where, got paid a few thousand bucks each, got to put another acting gig on their resumes,And for the rest of their lives just hoped that no one would ever see this crummy film. That’s why I say you are better off avoiding it. By the way David Doyle who later would be in Charlie’s Angels has a brief walk on in the beginning of the film. And the closing theme is equally as horrible as the rest of the film.

The innocent 1970's
This lighthearted film is a great vehicle for Sissy Spacek and brings out her good qualities as an actress ~ I really like Monte Markham who was perfect in the TV series Second Hundred Years ~ If you like to go back in time to the carefree innocent 1970's and live in the moment ~ you will enjoy this romantic comedy ~ I did. Love wins in the end.

A Good Film
This was a good movie. I enjoyed seeing Monte Markham. However, Sissy Spacek was the star of this film. She is beautiful in this film and stole every scene she is in.It's not a great film, and is a bit silly at times, but, over all, it's a good film.
